In loving memory of Lorna Keays (née Price), born 19 June 1921, died 20 April 2021.

Lorna was born and brought up in Netherton, Dudley, attending Dudley Girls High school. At the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, she trained as a nurse at Dudley Guest Hospital, rising to be a Sister. She worked as a fevers nurse, a midwife and district nurse. After the war, she worked in Northampton and Kent as a district nurse. In 1949 Lorna emigrated to Australia on a £10 ‘pom’ ticket and nursed in a number of places before having some time in New Zealand. Family circumstances forced her return to the Black Country where she worked as a midwife. She later worked at Queen Charlotte’s in London. She married in 1954 and left nursing to have her family. The family moved back to the Midlands in the late 1950s. In the mid 1980s, Lorna moved to Kent to be closer to her son, Michael and lived in Hempstead until 2014. At this time, she was becoming increasingly frail and moved into Fairlawn Residential Home in Maidstone. She was well looked after there and passed peacefully away on Tuesday, 20 April 2021.

Barbara, Joyce, Michael, partners, grandchildren and great grandchildren will all have lots of memories of Lorna’s long and fulfilling life and miss her greatly.
