In loving memory of Arthur Edward Moore who sadly passed away on 17th March 2021
Arthur was born on the 5 July 1926, the fourth of eight children. He was brought up in the Feathers pub on the corner of Waterloo Bridge. He was evacuated in the WW2 to Okehampton, and volunteered at age 17.5 to join the Royal Navy. He took part in the D Day landings and travelled extensively in the Far East. Like many of his generation this had an enduring impact on the rest of his life. He enjoyed going to Burma Star reunions up to 2020.
After the war he joined the post office and remained a postie until he retired.
He was married in 1949 and had four children, Janet, Peter, Christopher and Dennis.
He later moved to Northampton and had many happy years there with his new partner Joyce.
Returning to Merstham in 2019 to be nearer to his family & be cared for.
He enjoyed a good couple of years going to Age Concern at Merstham & receiving great care from Julie & Theresa, his carers.
He will be greatly missed by his family & friends.
