Doreen was born in Redhill on the 16th July 1956 to loving parents John and Iris Robinson, Doreen was the fourth of seven children. Linda, Carol, Colin, Barbara, Pauline and Karen being her brother and sisters.

Doreen attended the local schools and upon completing her education she took employment in retail fashion. She was a creative and talented person with an attentive eye for retail fashion. She was an honest and reliable lady who held an enormous capacity for work and for getting any jobs done.

Some years later after the birth of her son, Martin, Doreen became involved with the Rainbow Playgroup in Horley, as an assistant, before eventually taking over and owning, as well as managing, the playgroup herself. She was a wonderfully kind and welcoming lady with a smile that could brighten up any room. The children, parents and staff alike, all loved her for she was always thinking of others. She was a truly gentle and caring person who had time for anyone and everyone.

Above everything else though, Doreen was a loving, generous and proud wife and mother who was inspirational in her care and devotion to her family.

In later life she fought a courageous and brave battle against breast cancer for 14 years. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Doreen, my wife, companion, friend, soul mate and mother of our son Martin. We were a couple, still are a couple but sadly it was your time to leave. I hope you find peace and comfort wherever you are now. You are missed so much.

The say people come, say people go
This particular diamond was extra special
And though you might be gone
And the world may not know
Still I see you, celestial

So if you love someone
You should let them know
Oh, the light that you left me will everglow

I will miss my dearest friend Doreen's laughter, humour and our shopping trips together. Never once complaining during her long debilitating fight against breast cancer. She was the very best of friends. With love from Eileen & Chris Twyman.
