Thinking of my cousin Trevor, he would have been 81 today, so sad to have lost him

Happy birthday Trevor...

It is with great sadness that I type this message and say farewell to a true gentleman.

Like so many others that have paid tribute on this page you entered my life during my apprenticeship at Molins where you came in to internally verify my first year NVQ segments (TR21 programme) in association with Gareth Dix.

I then had the pleasure of working closely with you as a Training Officer at Aylesbury Training Group along side the other members of the technical team including Steve, Phil and Mark under the leadership of David George where you guided me through the assessment of NVQ and technician programmes at places like Rivets, Plenty, Compair, EG & G Sealol and so many others as well as assisting me to achieve my D34 Internal Verifiers award.

It was clear from working with so many of your former apprentices that you were extremely well liked and respected, not just from those that you trained, assessed and mentored but also their managers and other professionals that you worked so closely with.

I’m gutted that we never managed to catch up in your later years and now that opportunity has gone, so instead I can only continue your legacy of helping others by passing on my skills and experience to others just as you did during your life.

Rest in peace Trevor knowing that you will always be remembered.

Watched your service on zoom today Trevor, some beautiful music, I listened and remembered my times with you and Lyn, remembered helping you with some of your chores and enjoying your knowledge of your land and animals.. Then our discussions in your kitchen with a cup of tea and cake. Such simple pleasures but so enjoyable. I'll really miss you Trevor, such a gentleman and a real friend XX

Trevor will forever hold a place in my heart. He was the most kind, genuine and truest of gentlemen. I am so grateful for his love, guidance and friendship through the years and thankful for the memories we have shared. I feel so fortunate that our children grew up with Trevor. They have always referred to him as "Uncle Trevor", although he was far more of a grandfather figure, and what a role model! Trevor, we will love and miss you always. Rest in peace. Becki

As one of the last of Trevor’s Rutherford Appleton laboratory apprentices, I could not have asked for a better mentor, teacher, and friend.
He had the patience of a saint, and I will be forever grateful for the drive and encouragement he gave me to learn and succeed.
I do fondly recall later putting my metalworking skills to use making odds and ends for the farm and workshop, and exchanging notes and ideas on our respective projects.
Trevor truly was one of life’s Gentlemen. I feel very privileged to have known him and I will miss him dearly.

There has never been or will be a more caring, kind and compassionate person. A true friend, confidant and mentor to hundreds of people, especially all the young people he guided through their engineering apprenticeship with such dedication and commitment. I expect countless will say that not only did Trevor make them a better engineer but a better person as well. I am sure many will have passed these values on to their own families. Not many of us will be able to say that we have had such as positive impact on so many people.
Trevor, it was such a pleasure to have known you for over 30 years. You were a true friend to me and my family and we will all miss you so much.

Dear Trevor...

The passage of time fades many a memory but for all of us whose heart or mind you have met, our memories of you remain, woven into the fabric of who we are and what we do, you leave us all a legacy we cannot count.

My journey with you began when you guided me through my apprenticeship at Dexion, like so many other places you had hand in the training of so many people there. People who remember you still such as Ray Mck, Andy and Colin.

From Dexion I joined you at Aylesbury Training Group, where I began to work with you and others like Charlotte (give her a hug for me please Trev x), David, John, Phil & Karl.

Visiting Lyn and you at the farm was always a delight, seeing what you were both up to now! There was always a warm welcome when John, Colin or Charlotte joined me in visiting you, there are so many memories, so many stories, like catching up with how people like Ken were getting on.

Our story continued when you had a hand in me joining ISIS Training Services (now the Engineering Trust) where again we worked together along with Steve, Simeon, Caron and Jovan. I still work there today as a Training Officer, trying to pass on to every new generation of engineers all the things you've taught me.

Whether you meant to or not you made friends wherever you went, far far too many to mention, all who remember you fondly, all of us grateful you were apart of our lives no matter how brief that was.

My friend, for now, we must go our separate ways... I hope you know just how much we all care, all of us whose life you touched. I do understand why you will want no fuss, no service or celebration but many will mourn and you will certainly be missed.

You have given so much to so many, a kinder soul there was not, the last of a true generation of gentle men. I owe you more than I can ever repay and I will be forever grateful you let me into your life, you will always be apart of me, goodbye dear friend...

I was so saddened to hear of Trevor's passing. I have known Trevor and Lyn for over 40 years - since my late husband joined Dacorum College as an engineering lecturer alongside Trevor. Trevor was a very caring person, a true gentleman and a stickler for detail and perfection! It is so sad that the last few years have been so difficult for him (and for Lyn). The last time we were all together was for my daughter's wedding 8 years ago - very fond memories of such a happy day.

We would like to express our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Trevor. We know he will be greatly missed by those that knew him and that all are saddened by his death.

Trevor was a highly regarded and respected member of staff for many years and worked with us prior to his retirement, not that Trevor ever actually retired. His continued passion for engineering and the opportunities it offered to those who had the courage to take it on as a career never ceased.

Throughout his career and during his work with us as a Training Officer, he worked with passion, integrity and sincerity, always focused on what was good for the apprentice and their training. His impact on employer training programmes within businesses such Thames Water and RAL is still evident and his dedication to high standards lives on today through those he worked with.

Trevor helped a countless number of people over the years and was generous with his time, his knowledge and his expertise. The honesty and warmth he gave in his guidance, commitment and inspiration to apprentices and to others with whom he helped cannot be measured.

Trevor was a remarkable man and our staff, the apprentices and their employers both past and present are better for having known him.

We are very pleased to also create an award in Trevor’s name which will be part of our annual apprenticeship awards. It will recognise and celebrate someone each year who has completed an apprenticeship and made significant progress in their career.

Such sad news to hear of Trevor’s passing. I had known this true gent since 1994 when he came to verify engineering apprentices’ work at Abingdon College. We stayed in contact by post over the years and Trevor’s letters were always interesting and hand written. It goes without saying that his MBE was well deserved! Trevor and Lyn had a difficult time over the last few years - so tragic for such a lovely couple. May they both rest in peace together.
