One of the kindest, and certainly the most generous, friend and colleague imaginable.

The Bowlers' Bar at Lord's and the pavilion at Hove will never be the same again.

I owe so much to my Uncle John. He did so much to support me and my whole family during some of the darkest times. He was a great man with such love and generosity in his heart and I was lucky to call him my uncle. Sending my love and thanks over the ether to him and to Auntie Shirley, the girls and their families. May we all be together again soon xxx

I was so very sorry to hear of John's death.
I worked at M&G from 1973-93, the latter years spent organising Group inter office conferences amongst other things! - one I organised for John down in Goodwood which I attended too, he was very kind to me checking in many times that arrangements were going ok and did I need him to do anything.
He was a big part of the M&G family - happy memories.
My thoughts and love today go to Mrs Austin and John's daughters and all your family.
Sally Turner.

We only met John and his family a handful of times at family occasions on his brother Nick’s side. But he left a wonderful impression on us all with his beaming smile and a heart that seemed full of joy and love. His family looks to have all inherited those same traits and his memory will live on in your hearts forever.
We wish we could be there to mark the occasion with you and send you all our love and warm hugs instead.
Pavel, Carla, Isla and Nadya.
