When I heard the news about Stuart it was through an email from my work. I didn’t realise Stuart and I worked for the same employers. I hadn’t seen in been in contact with Stuart for at least 20 plus years. I grew up attending Emmanuel church and Stuart was one of the leaders when myself and my friends went to Barnstaple youth camp for a week in the 90’s as well as helped with the church youth club which we were often unruly at lol - he was always such a lovely person and he used to have lots of laughs with my friends and I. As I got slightly older, Stuart tutored me with Maths to help me gain confidence whilst at senior school which I’m forever grateful for ! I have nothing but happy memories of knowing Stuart and so sad to hear of his passing xxx

I have never met Stuart, but have come to know him through Jon Kuhrt's beautiful and poignant obituary. Thanking God for his life and influence, and compassionate heart. Grieving, too, for Steph, Hannah, John, Sheila, Andrew and Annie. 'In all our afflictions, He, too, is afflicted.' Sincerely, Graham Cotter.

I have just become aware of the sad news of Stuarts passing. I worked with Stuart in the Community Youthwork Service in Surrey County
Council.
Stuart was a deeply sensitive & caring person who was committed to making a positive difference to young people. He shared his mental health issues with me openly & honestly.
Sending Stuarts family love. Please know that Stuart was loved & respected by so many people & lived his faith daily.

I played cricket with Stuart (Stoon) Ryland between 1990 and 2000 at Addiscombe Cricket Club along with Nick Terrell, Andy Bellwood, and Jon Kuhrt. I'm a couple of years older than this inseparable gang and every minute of those long days of playing in the same team as them was packed full good natured humour, fun and great cricket moments that I will always remember. Stoon had a wonderful soul. I've never met Stoon's family but please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of an exceptional human being.

The last occasion I saw Stuart was when he was out with his family celebrating. We were also out with our family celebrating - at another table in the restaurant! Stuart came over to our table and said Hi to us all and asked us how we were and how the family was. So smiley - so thoughtful and kind. That's what I'll always remember - his smile and him reaching out to others with kindness and love.

I am very saddened to hear the news of Stuart’s passing. Although I have not seen Stuart for decades, I have many good memories of us together at St. Andrews, the Choisi le Roi France trip in February 1985 and subsequent social events. All my love to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace and rise in Glory. Love Dean X
