Ted Hemmerle (21 Nov 1925 - 6 Dec 2020)

Val and I lit our candle yesterday but our message seems to have got lost. With Liz I enjoyed being a friend of Jean and Teddy for about 50 years. And it continued after Liz died in 2011, once I had met and settled down with Val. Life in the corner of Summerleaze beach beneath the huts was always a pleasure and I especially enjoyed the Beach Volleyball matches against friends and visitors, with beach rules of course! If volleyball is played in heaven we will all be delighted.

Have just received in Cyprus the sad news this morning from a friend in Bude. We have known Teddy and his late wife Jean for many years, and mainly saw them at the beach hut in Summerleaze. Will miss his down to earth common sense. Late sister Pat would also be sad to know of Ted's passing. We pass on our sincere condolences to Ted's family especially Martin, Katie and Christopher who we see regularly at the beach huts. RIP from Graham & Cencia xx

Dear ol Teddy! We couldn’t have asked for better neighbours growing up, you and Jean were more like family to us! So many good memories with lots of laughter amongst them, thinking of our ‘Rummikub’ battles will always make us smile.

We’ll light a candle on the 22nd to say goodbye to Teddy. Jean & Teddy our best friends for over 60 years. We’ll miss you.

I have so many childhood memories of all the good times I spent with my ‘godparents’ Auntie Jean & Uncle Ted. We will miss you. Sending all our love.
