In loving memory of Anthony "Tony" Williams, who sadly passed away on the 28th of November 2020. Tony was beloved father to Chris and Sarah, Grandfather to Witse and Lonneke and widower to Doreen. Tony had a long history of ill health but sadly contracted corona virus, which contributed to his passing.

Tony's funeral will take place at Bramcote Crematorium on the 14th December at 11.45. If you wish to attend the funeral, please contact Lymn's in Bulwell as only a limited number of people can attend. Sadly there will be no wake at this time. These restrictions are due to covid 19 regulations. The funeral can be followed via a live weblink. Please inform Lymn's in Bulwell if you would like to follow Tony's funeral in this way.

Tony was a keen fisherman and gardener, an avid Nottingham Forest supporter, a collector of things and a passionate wildlife lover. For these things we will remember him.

Tony had a long and varied working life including working as a gas fitter for the gas board, as a bouncer at the Palais and Tiffany's in 1970s and then went on to work for a long period at Armaguard. Later in life Tony worked as driver and supervisor for social services ambulances at Nottingham county council. Working was a large part of his life and even after he was made redundant, he still continued to look for work and was volunteering, until ill health forced him to retire.

Tony was married to Doreen for 39 years before the sad passing of Doreen in 2018. Although Doreen and Tony had been separated for some years prior to this, Tony maintained his love for Doreen throughout and to the end.

Tony will be remembered for his larger than life sense of humor and for his many colorful stories. Please feel free to share any of your stories about Tony and any photos here as he would have appreciated this.

In later years, even though he suffered from ill health, Tony still maintained his independence by attending to his well loved garden.

Donations will be sent to the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. This trust was close to Tony's heart and he would have appreciated this.

Family flowers only please.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Tony's passing.
I only knew Tony in the last few years of his life, I was one of the District Nursing team who visited regularly.
I actually loved going to see him as he had such a fund of stories and funny reminiscences.
What a wealth of knowledge he had! Tony could talk about gardening, fishing, bird-watching, football, music, history - he had so many interests.
He was so proud of his son and daughter and what they had acheived. I always thought Tony was partly responsible for their success in life by passing on to them his thirst for knowledge. I am sure he was a wonderful, encouraging, supportive and loving dad.
He was also supportive of work-mates. One time a new-starter arrived and Tony immediately saw that the young man had ASD. Tony explained tasks in a way that he could grasp and the lad later thanked him and said he would never have been able to succeed in the job without Tony's insightful help in those first weeks.
Tony was so kind and thoughtful. He knew what each nurse's interests were and geared his conversation accordingly. He asked about our families and occasionally, out-of-the-blue, would say 'Take this book for your lad. I know he's interested in this subject'. He always said he'd found that he'd accidently got two the same...
I shall miss Tony enormously. He was truly one of life's gentlemen.

Phil lost touch with Tony after his stroke, they were part of the trio of team leaders for NCC transport, along side Phil Bullock. Think they spent more time skiving than working!!! My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
