In loving memory of Betty Marjorie Davy who sadly passed away on 14th November 2020.

Betty Marjorie Lever was born in Kenton, an area in London, where she spent her early life with mum 'Queenie', dad Albert and sister Joan.
During the war, Betty, Joan and 'Queenie' were evacuated to Ipswich to escape the bombing.
From there, they moved to Leicester and were joined by Albert.

When mum married our dad, Harry, she moved to Hucknall where they had four children; Robert, Jane, Annette and Timothy.

Mum retired at the age of 60 and spent the next 30 years enjoying a new life in rural Norfolk. She very much loved the outdoor life, especially walking. She joined a local ramblers group and regularly went on countryside and coastal walks in the area. She made many new friends during this time.

Her other hobby was gardening wherever she called home, she transformed the gardens in her own unique way. Her vision of an English country garden at its best with a mix of wild and cultivated plants was her signature style.

She was a cat lover and at one time had three cats all with very individual personalities. Latterly, she had just one.

Losing her leg was a cruel and bitter blow as it curtailed her from doing both of the things she loved the most. However, she never complained, just got on with life and made the best of things as she always did.

The only thing she said she really missed was being able to go for a paddle in the sea. Sometimes the simplest of pleasures are the ones that are missed most of all.

When she was very ill and nearing the end, she said “I’ve got to fight this and I’m just letting it happen.” Everyone who knew her greatly admired her fighting spirit but alas, this time it was not to be as she had no physical strength left.

She passed away in The Royal Derby Hospital on Sunday, 14th November 2020 surrounded by the tireless care of the lovely nurses who sat with her, spoke with her and held her hand so that she was not alone.

A mum in a million who will be missed by us all.
