In loving memory of Mavis James who sadly passed away on 5th May 2020

Mavis James was born on 7th December 1938 on George Road, Carlton to Arthur and Hilda Holland.
She had one sibling, Ken, whom she often spoke about spending time as children running through the fields with and climbing trees. Mavis had a loving but tough childhood, growing up during the war.

Mavis's first job was at Bournes Cotton Mill in Netherfield, where she worked for several years. Mavis met Harry, who worked for Rolls Royce, in Netherfield and were introduced through mutual friends. Eventually, they went on to Marry on the 12th March 1960 at St Paul's Church, Carlton. They started married life on Matlock Street, Netherfield before moving to their current home on Violet Road, Carlton where they started their own family.

They were blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Diane.

Mavis and Harry spent many happy times on Harry's motorbike, with Mavis in the pillion, travelling up and down the country visiting various places including Hunstanton and Blackpool. They continued visiting various places as a family and they enjoyed spending time at the Seaside.

Mavis was caring and compassionate and always put others before herself.

Wonderful neighbour and friend. Mavis was an exceptionally gifted knitter and provided dozens of beautifully dressed dolls every Christmas for the shoe box appeal. These have blessed many children.
