Just wanted to say how sorry we are to hear of your loss. We have very fond memories of both Len and Betty who made us so welcome when we moved to the area.
Paul always recounts how when he would ring the doorbell she would open the door, per closely at him and ask if that was Paul? He always smiled at that one.
We also remember how sweet she was when we first brought home our son from the hospital. Concerned that he was making too much noise in the night we asked if she could hear him to which she replied - oh yes, I can hear him singing but to be honest I just turn off my hearing aid and sleep soundly.
Rest in peace Betty - I’m sure you’re pleased to be reunited with Len once again.
Jo, Paul & Daniel.

As little girls, my older sister Hannah and I would regularly spend sunny Saturdays with Len and Betty in their garden, sitting in the front room with the Cats, Emily was always my favourite. We would enjoy watching their amazing coy carp splash about in what we thought was their enormous pond. I will always remember their kind hearts. Len taught me how to play happy birthday on his piano in the back room and Betty taught us how to make bread pudding. Such fond memories of our lovely neighbours.

Betty’s heartwarming throaty laugh is something I remember ever since I was a child as was her cheeky positivity. As a child if I was ill or it was a school summer holiday and my mum was at work, it was mostly my sister Mary ‘S house I would be at but Betty ,my sister-in-law , also did her bit - I remember CAKES! I also remember her doing her chores and then settling down to a Mills and Boon. David and Ian were only little at the time but I used them as my substitute dolls for tea parties or imaginary players in games . I can hear her laughing now. She may not have been a widely travelled person but she was always good for a really good conversation, she was also no pushover but I don’t remember her raising her voice to me...apart from as a teenager I broke a pair of glass salad servers that had been a wedding present. I still shudder at the memory. Bet...always positive with folded arms is an image I hold and also .......her knitting machines !
With luv Geraldine xx
