In loving memory of the late Raymond George Lambert who sadly passed away on 5th April 2015. Raymond was born in Derby in 1933. He was a loving brother to three sisters in Pat, Pam and Glenis. Raymond was a man who always wanted to better himself, something which was evident from an early age as he left school at 15 to become an apprentice electrician. Raymond joined the army at the age of 21 and he would subsequently serve in both Egypt and Cyprus during his time. Shortly after joining the army Raymond would marry Sheila, a marriage that would last 60 years. They had two children (Yvonne and Wayne) as well as seven grandchildren. He would work for British Rail before retiring in 1995. Ray was a man who had a passion for sport, as a youngster he was an acomplished footballer and cycle speedway rider. In his later years he would become a passionate crown green bowls player, captaining his local Littleover team for 15 years.
He spent his last 18 months in Forest View Nursing Home before his peaceful passing on April 5th 2015.

There are no amount of superlatives that can do justice to the manner in which Raymond lived his life. The impact that he had on my life has shaped my development into the man that I have become today. He was the greatest grandfather that any person could ever even dream of asking for, and I feel this is because he found joy and brilliance in everything that he attempted. And just as you could find the good in everything, I find good in this time of sorrow because I will forever be determined to live my life in a way that would make you as proud now as I was every second that you lived. Thanks for the memories Granddad, you will never be forgotten.
