In loving memory of Allan and Enid Hewitt

Allan ("with two L's"!) born in Leeds as Alan (with one L!) moved to London after RAF National Service where he landed on his feet when he met, fell in love with and married Enid. The best decision of his life.

Always the gentleman, he was kind, caring, supportive and exceedingly generous - especially with his time. Former banker, business leader and mentor to many. He would have a go at most things - part-time fireman, boxer, cricketer, but that said DIY and cooking were rarely overly successful!

"I hope you have an Allan in your world. If not, you should get one." Mark Hodgson.

*******

Enid born in Tilbury and swiftly moved to London (Brixton!). Met, fell in love with (because he asked her to dance not go to the cinema) and married Allan. Still the best decision of "his" life.

Always smiling, always listening, always there for us, never judging, always accepting, giving unconditionally. She was our rock, our sunshine, our security, our home. She gave us roots and wings to fly and stepped back and watched as we blossomed.

****

Allan & Enid lived life to the full and travelled the world with family and friends. They built a home together for Wendy and Jenny filled with love, happiness and laughter.

Wendy, Jenny, Christopher, Jordan, Hayley, Guy, Jeremy and Lindsey will miss them both but have an endless supply of happy memories to comfort them and feel so lucky to have been their family.

We all loved them so very much and we know that they knew.
xx

Thank you so much to the wonderful hospice nurses, without whose love and care, Mum and Dad would have struggled to both stay in their own home – a home that they had lived in for 39 years and absolutely loved. Mum and Dad would have been overwhelmed with the level of the contributions - thank you all so much . We hope that the donations in their names contribute to helping other people stay in their homes. Thank you. Love you Mum and Dad xxx xxx xxx

Dear Wendy, Jenny and family,

Elizabeth and I are saddened to hear about your loss. Allan and Enid were one of life’s true devoted couples who enjoyed life and their family and always had time for others.

In all the photographs I have seem of Allan and Enid, (I’ve added a few) they looked remarkably the same, both smiling and in the different photos over the years they never seemed to age. However, Allan must have been a triple centurion when he passed away as he had more birthdays than anyone else I can remember.

He was great at breaking the ice at any event. And Enid always had the largest smile when she looked at him. Allan taught me a lot in my early years at Logica and BHS and I have been a better person for his guidance.

Elizabeth and I will miss them both and have fond memories of the times we shared together.

With our deepest sympathy

Elizabeth and Teifion

Tim and I send our deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved parents, Jenny and Wendy and dear and special Grandparents, Christopher, Jordan and Hayley. Enid and Alan were such an inspiration to us all in their own amazing love and relationship of more than 50 years and their unconditional love and incredibly close bond to their two beautiful daughters Jenny and Wendy and to their three very special Grand- children Christopher, Jordan and Hayley. Not only were they deeply loved by all their family but by all who knew them. They had an incredible aura (always smiling and welcoming) and were full of kindness, thoughtfulness and giving, making one feel special. I will never forget their kindness to Victoria when she was at Oxford with Chris in welcoming her into their home on many occasions as if she was part of the family. As a Mum far away overseas, I was so touched by Enid and Alan’s love for Victoria and I am sure the very close friendship between Chris and Victoria almost like brother and sister is because of them embracing her as part of their family.

There are no words that can relate how much they will be missed but their memory will live on forever for all those who knew them and their love and spirits will always be with their loved ones.

Tim and I are so sorry we cannot join and be with you on the 17 December to celebrate their life and bid them farewell. We will will be thinking of you all from across the miles in Singapore at 10.45am (UK time) and you will very much be in our thoughts and prayers.

We would very much like to donate to the MacMillan Brook Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice for each to continue their incredible work in caring and giving to others the same support they gave to Enid and Alan.

With all our love and thoughts at this difficult and sad time.

Jay and Tim XXXXX
