Bill was a truly lovely and gentle soul. So many wonderful memories: his sense of humour, his knowledge, and, of course, his Sudoku strategies. Feel privileged to have met him.

Bill was an unassuming person, a dedicated professional and a kind and generous human being. I worked with him for many years at SCC where he was indefatigable and helpful way beyond the call of duty. I'm just grateful to have got to know him a little. And also envious at how fast he could do the crossword...

We worked with Bill at the Horniman many years ago. He took on roles of our work ethics coach, our satirist and our drinking buddy. We will never forget his sharp wit, kind heart and his never drinking on a full stomach... With love to his family from Julia C, Claire, Kate and Justyna

I will be at the funeral with John Sutton and Mervyn Vance. We were workmates of Bill's at the GLC and remember the good times we had with Bill.

Bill was a good work colleague, travelling companion (on long work trips) and most importantly a good friend.

Though clearly he had his own ideas about how to train for the event 1981

Bill was the first person I met at the Horniman - and one of the reasons I took the job. He's gone far too soon.
