In the 1980s Jean came to North Devon to visit the area where her Great Uncle lived as she had a photograph of her mother & herself standing outside our cottage --luckily for me I was home working in the garden when she called at the front door & to cut a long story short we became friends & she stayed with my husband & I twice --&we kept in touch when she felt unable to travel -- happy memories sweetheart

Jean and her husband Alf were long standing members of the Club having joined in 1965.
In 1972 they were asked if they would take over the Club library which they agreed to do and were given a battered suitcase containing less than 30 books. By charging for book loans they soon built up a library of more than 284 books of a quality and range considered to be better than the local library.
In 1973 they became committee members and Alf was asked to produce a Club magazine which was called ‘Stop Press’.
This library collection is largely in existence today having been meticulously maintained by Jean right up to a short time ago.
Jean also enthusiastically helped with the Annual Competition and Exhibition, paying particular attention to the flower arrangements in the hall.
It cannot be understated the contribution made to the Club by Jean and her husband Alf. Club members past and present will sadly miss Jean as a friend and Club Member.
