Brian John Lymbery OBE (1 Mar 1947 - 8 Aug 2018)

We three are at SELondon Pride in Goldsmiths Square sitting in the shade of the Professor Stuart Hall building. We (Peter, Michael and I) were friends of Brian (via Neighbours Mark and David).

I was on planning committee (B) which agreed to the SHB which was commissioned by Brian I think.

Lots of nice memories of this lovely and impressive man who managed his Parkinson’s (until he was admitted to hospital!) and on visiting him he always had some wine ready..

Miss him lots, triggered by my being here at Goldsmiths…

I used to do some of his gardening in St D’s.

My first job was as a Field Officer with the Prince Of Wales' Committee in Cardiff where Brian was my boss. It was a huge privilege to work for him. Brian was wise, insightful & astute but who was also extremely generous, compassionate & blessed with a glorious sense of humour. He was a wonderful mentor to me at the start of my career. He taught me so much that has helped me through my life. I moved to Australia & lost touch but I have thought about him much over the years.

Brian and I collaborated in the early 1970's and remained in touch for many years. He was a strong and special individual - qualities which helped him to overcome many of the hindrances imposed by Parkinson's. He will be missed by many in the communities which he served.

Sad news, a lovely man. As chair of Lewisham PCT, his vision and commitment were a huge influence behind the unique multi-agency children's centre Kaleidoscope, which opened in 2006. Brian also made a great personal effort to come to the Broadway Theatre to give evidence in June 2013 for our Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign's ‘People’s Commission’. Thank you Brian.

For Brian - a welcoming neighbor, good cook and kind and benevolent human being. May Brian be an example to us all how to live a positive life and think of others even when we ourselves have much to contend with.

In memory of Brian who gave so much time, effort and energy to Lucas Vale Primary School for the benefit of the pupils and their families. He was always interested, understanding and supportive. I respected Brian hugely and benefited from his wise counsel and great sense of humour.
