In loving memory of Jacqueline Elaine Pabla who sadly passed away on 14th October 2026.
Born to Arthur and Sheila Strickson in 1963, at the City Hospital Nottingham Jackie Elaine Strickson spent her childhood in Bulwell Nottingham.
She attended Bulwell St Mary's Church of England Primary and Nursery School and then Top Valley Comprehensive School.
After leaving school Jackie then started her career as a legal secretary in 1981 at Page & Co solicitors where duties included typing, handling telephone calls and correspondence as well as dealing with Land Registry and mortgage lenders. It was here Jackie discovered a keen interest for conveyancing.
After her previous superior, Alan McCabe, left the firm in 1985 Jackie was introduced to the new partner of the firm Mr Richard “Dick” Fletcher. Dick was to have a major influence on Jackie's career from that point and his enthusiasm pushed Jackie to undertake the ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives) course in 1987.
Unfortunately, shortly after Jackie took this decision Dick passed away and the firm began moving in the direction of the criminal law. Knowing that this was not for her, she decided to decamp and move to Yates & Co solicitors to continue in residential conveyancing.
Jackie married Colin Danvers in 1990 and divorced in 2000.
Between the period of 1990 and 1996 Jackie worked closely with the senior partner David Yates in the property department, breaking only briefly when her son William was born in 1991. This six year period culminated in Mr Yates giving her permission to act as the primary in the conduct of her own files and by 1998, upon the retirement of Mr Yates, Jackie was made head of the conveyancing department at Yates & Co Solicitors.
By this point in time Jackie finally had the opportunity to resume her studies and in 2001 she was proud to qualify as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
She became Partner at the firm in 2008 and continued in this role until her death this year.
She married Harvey Pabla in 2004 and remained happily married.
Jackie was an life-long fan of the Nottingham Panthers, holding a season ticket for many years between 1990 and 2005. She often queued overnight to buy tickets to the next match, with the help of her mother and friend Helen. She also travelled to away games as far away as XXXXXXXXX. Her love of ice hockey also extended to watching the Calgary Flames on many occasions and visits to watch Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
She was also an avid cricket fan watching England at Trent Bridge in the Ashes, Headingly and abroad at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, where she even spent a day on the infamous party stand where many a rum punch was consumed!
She attended many Formula One Grand Prix over the years including Silverstone, Monaco, Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Montreal and Monza.
She held a season ticket at Nottingham Forest from 1997 and in the late 90's and early 00's enjoyed many away trips suppporting the "reds" as well as every home match. One memorable trip between Christmas and New Year involved an away trip to Blackburn in the Championship where Jackie was on crutches having recently been treated for a Meniscus Tear.
Jackie attended many concerts throughout her life, on multiple occasions seeing Oasis, Bryan Adams and Michael Buble sometimes travelling abroad for the experience. In her latter years she was introduced to Country music by her good friends Helen and Jeff, and enjoyed the County to Country festival in Belfast and Glasgow.
She loved her holidays, in particular her many trips to Canmore and Banff in the Canadian Rockies and to Barbados.
Jackie was devoted to her family, leaving behind her husband Harvey, son William, daughter-in-law Asma, grandson Joseph, step-father Arthur and mother Sheila.
She lost her father Arthur Strickson earlier this year.
Above all, she loved her family and had an amazing relationship with her closest friends, all of whom she considered as her extended family.
Jackie was loved by all that met her. She was kind, considerate, compassionate, loyal and selfless.
Jackie was truly one in a Billion!
