My beautiful mum was taken from us on 13th October 2026.
Mum had been unwell for more than 25 years and, in her final months, endured unimaginable pain. As her daughter, it was incredibly difficult to witness the suffering she went through, knowing there was little I could do to ease it. Despite everything she faced, Mum never complained and rarely let others see how much she was hurting. She suffered in silence, always more concerned about those around her than herself. Her courage, strength and dignity never wavered. Whilst I miss her beyond words and my heart is broken, I find comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace and no longer suffering. ❤️
Mum was the sweetest and kindest person I have ever known, and she did not deserve all that she went through. She loved her family dearly and cherished every moment spent with us, especially family celebrations. She loved to dance and was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing. Mum also had a wicked sense of humour and loved making people laugh. My Grandad would often say of his three daughters, "Gwen was the beauty, Lyn was the brains, and Sue was the joker," and Mum certainly lived up to that title. She always had a quick wit, a funny comment, or a mischievous smile that could brighten even the darkest day. Her laughter was infectious, and being around her was always a joy.
Mum had a happy childhood and upbringing. She adored her mum and dad and was incredibly close to her brother and sisters, particularly her sisters, with whom she shared a special bond throughout her life. The loss of their beloved brother at such a young age was devastating and had a lasting impact on the whole family.
Mum gave me so many precious memories that I will treasure forever. She was by my side when Harvey was born and proudly cut his umbilical cord, a moment she cherished for the rest of her life. She helped care for Harvey and Maddie so that I could continue working, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. They brought her so much joy, and the love she had for them was unconditional.
Mum, you have left a huge hole in my life and in the lives of everyone who loved you. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have had you as my mum. Thank you for your love, guidance and unwavering support throughout my life. I will miss you every day and carry your love with me always.
Funeral Arrangements
Mum's funeral will be conducted by T. Allen Funeral Services, with the cremation taking place at Medway Crematorium on the 11th November at 11:00am.
In keeping with Mum's gentle nature, we are not asking guests to wear traditional black and white funeral attire. We kindly ask that guests dress smartly in subdued colours and avoid very bright clothing.
