In loving memory of Christopher Marshall who sadly passed away on 26th September 2026

I have known Chris for over 20 years as a bike builder and mechanic. He was a lovely man, a perfectionist in whom I had complete confidence and a genius in working out ways to get bikes back on the road. He was always ready with helpful suggestions, not just on cycling matters. He was unflustered, unmaterialistic and non-judgemental, a rare combination. He will be sorely missed.

Would have liked remember Chris with you all but sadly can’t be there. Chris was in some of the best formative memories for me. He’d just get stuck in and nothing seemed to phase him. Typically going down to Bradford’s twin, Roubaix, for the amateur race in 1983, 6 of us in a VW camper staying at a workers hostel (not a good sleep). He was straight up the road in the early break next day. Sorry not to have seen more of him in recent times. Condolences to those he has left behind.

Chris was a great guy i raced against him as a junior. He did a great job of renovating my vintage frames and we would always talk for too long reminiscing about our racing days. A very Sad loss to the cycling community. Sincere condolences to his family for their loss. Sorry I cannot attend the funeral but my thoughts will be with you all.

Chris was such a likeable guy and someone who was an absolute pleasure to ride with and share a coffee or a beer with, not to mention the odd holiday.
There’s a big Chris-shaped hole in the Keighley cycling scene of which he was a key part over a almost five decades, both as a racer, social rider and certainly because of his skills as a frame builder and painter.
Rest in peace!
