Wake to be held after at The Robin Hood, Durley SO32 2AA
All are welcome to celebrate his life and share stories and memories.
As Paul was an Everton supporter, we invite all guests to wear "a touch of blue".
Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mountbatten Hospice, who took Paul in at the right time and provided him with dignity, and exemplary care in his final days. Alternatively, Paul regularly donated to the British Red cross and therefore any support in his memory would be welcome.
Paul grew up in Liverpool, attending St Edwards College until he was 18, working various jobs including for his uncle on building sites when he saw an advert for training at the Ordinance Survey in Southampton. He also worked for Granada as a TV installer before deciding to train as a police officer.
Paul served his thirty years as a police officer from 1982-2012 in the south and was stationed in various locations:
1982- Training in Ashford Kent and completed probation in Romsey
1984 - Shirley (city patrol and CID) and Nottingham during the Miners strike
1986 - Seaford Sussex (regional technical support)
1988 - Portswood (city patrol, VICE and Traffic)
1994 - Southampton Control Room
2002 - Eastleigh (patrol) and Romsey (patrol)
2005 - Various support units in Romsey, Andover and Eastleigh
2006 - Lyndhurst (Prosecution Support Team)
2011 - Winchester (firearms licensing)
Since retiring from the police, he has held a variety of roles including Community support at The New Forest Council, before becoming part of the support team at Hampshire and South Downs College in 2019, where he stayed until he qualified for a free bus pass in 2025 and became an official "old fart".
Despite spending the majority of his life in the south, Paul maintained a notable scouse accent.
Known for his love of motorbikes and sport, interest in history and nature, aversion to the internet, and always finding a way to have a laugh, he is gone but never forgotten.

So very sad that you’ve gone, but lucky to have got to know you. The one and only ‘gobby Scouse’ of HSDC. Loved our chats, hearing your police stories and you were a very proud dad. I hope you knew how fond we all were of you Paul. Love to your family 🤍
Paul celebrating his last day at Havant and South Downs college, with lots of coffee and cake, just as he loved.
Paul sent me these pictures when we were reminiscing this is him in the Ordnance Survey Under25 club about 1981
Paul joked he was multitasking -smoking and drawing Ordnance Survey Sidcup office.
I think this was one of Paul's trips in 2022

Paul and I together on our Passing Out parade. Ashford 1982. We then followed our individual 30+ years careers in Hampshire police and our paths didn’t cross again till 2019 when we were both minibus drivers at Southdown College! A real gent!
Paul agreeing with me in a discussion from our Ordnance Survey days.
