We had 34 years together but there was always more of you to know. I Loved You.

I am saddened that I only got to meet you at the very end of your full and fascinating life but so pleased that Lucy was able to introduce me to you and we got to spend some time reminiscing about where we had both previously worked. Rest in peace Janet.

I, too, keep thinking of you whenever I go somewhere and think that you would love to see pictures of it. I miss your enquiring mind, your interest in the world, and your wonderful sesne of the ridiculous.

I’m glad I was able to be there for you at the end. Rest in peace, Mum.

Love, Lucy

The week before last, we went to the coast, and took a walk along the beach. It was a beautiful day, and we had the beach mostly to ourselves. We picked up shells, and dipped our toes in the water, and found something that might have been a fossil.

I thought that this was the sort of thing that I would tell you about in our weekly email exchange, and that I would send you one of the photos I took, but of course I won't be able to do that any more.

I'm sure this will happen again. I will see something interesting, or go to an art gallery, or read an article about one of your favourite subjects, and I'll think that Mum would like this.

I won't be able to tell you about it, but I will be thinking of you.

Love,

Al

  • I so miss Janet. All this time and I still, sometimes, think she is still alive, with me. Sharing my life. I go to the next room to show her something. All this time and I still cannot accept she has gone. How long does it take before I can accepth that I am alone?

  • It is October and I still can't accept living alone. Every day is so lonely and I find myself about to talk to Janet and - she is not here, I actually recall conversations we had the night before when we can't have had. I am just not coping. Life seems pointless without her. I have lost any sense of there being a meaning to my life.
