Funeral Director
In loving memory of Brian "Bede" David Alexander Allen who we sadly lost on 26th September 2026
Brian was at the heart of our family, and we feel so fortunate to have shared our lives with him. Born in Dublin on 9 April 1944, he was a much-loved husband, dad, grandad, brother, and friend. His warmth, humour, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome, and he always had time to listen, share a story, or bring a smile to someone’s face. The love and laughter he gave us will remain with us always, and we will miss him more than words can say.
Brian lived a full and varied life. His passion in his earlier years was racing minis, he enjoyed tending to his garden, attempting to grow vegetables and followed the racing with great enthusiasm. He threw himself into supporting Irish rugby, dressing up for the occasion and cheering from the stands alongside Jamie and Barb. Brian also loved a party and was never happier than when there was dancing and a good sing-song to join in with. He took pride in his work as a Company Director and valued his time with the Scouting organisation. Above all, his family was at the heart of his life. Those closest to him will remember not only the things he did, but the warmth, humour, fun and curiosity he brought to every conversation and gathering.
Brian was always there for his family, generous with both his time and his help. He would drive Barbara to Manchester to support Jamie at his many school events, and when Barb and Jenna lived alone, they knew they could call on him at any hour of the day or night. He would happily collect Barb midway through a training run if it became too difficult, take the dogs for their haircuts, pick up mid dog walking when caught in a storm, or water the garden while the family was away on holiday. Whatever was needed, however big or small, Dad never said no.
A funeral or memorial service will be held at Eltham Crematorium on Thursday 5 November at 12:15. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to https://www.justgiving.com/page/barbara-miller-4
Please contact Barb directly (07989 437454) to let her know if you will be attending the wake following the service. This will take place at 3 Newnhams Close, Bickley, Kent BR1 2HW.
Brian will be remembered for the way he welcomed each of us with open arms, the laughter he brought, his fondness for taking charge, his love of sharing a story, and the genuine interest he showed in everyone he met. His spirit will live on in shared stories, treasured memories, and in the hearts of the family and friends who loved him.
