Hi all... as you may already know, sadly my mum, Annabelle Molloy, died peacefully on 21st September 2026 after a short battle with lung cancer. I was with her to the end.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday 27th October, 11.30am, at Babworth Crematorium, Straight Mile, Babworth, DN22 8FJ. This will be followed by a reception/gathering to celebrate her life at Ye Olde Bell, Barnby Moor, Retford, DN22 8QS from 12.30pm onwards. There are rooms available at Ye Olde Bell should you need somewhere to stay either the night before or after the funeral & reception. Please contact Ye Olde Bell directly by calling 01777 705121, also mentioning you're booking for the celebration of Annabelle Molloy's life.
The funeral will also be livestreamed, starting about five minutes before the funeral (so from 11:25am - for those abroad, remember UK clocks go back an hour on the 25th October). It will also be available to watch 24 hours after the funeral and for 30 days. The link, password and log-in info can be found on the right-hand menu on this page. Please try logging in any time from now to make sure you can access the livestream on the day - let me know if you have any problems.
No flowers or other similar tributes, please. I have chosen two charities if you would like to donate in mum's memory in lieu of flowers. The first is Bassetlaw District General Hospital - specifically ward C1, their end-of-life and bereavement teams for their truly incredible care, understanding and respect during mum's final days. They were so wonderful with mum and with me too - mum was in such professional & caring hands at the end. The second is Cats Protection - specifically Nottinghamshire Cat Centre and team who have taken Daisy, mum's beloved furry companion for around 14 years, into their care for rehoming. Donations to both can be made directly to W E Pinder & Son, funeral directors - you'll also find links to their contact details to make a donation on the right-hand menu on this page. Donations can also be made using the donation boxes on the day of the funeral.
Dress code for the funeral is smart casual but please do feel free to wear whatever you will feel most comfortable in on the day - anything from formal to informal. Mum would not want a sea of black, nor would I, and she would want the ceremony to be a celebration of her life, not a deeply sombre affair, so bright colous are also very welcome.
If you have any pictures of mum throughout her life - digital or scanned physical photos - you can upload them directly to this page by scrolling down and clicking on the "Add a Photo" link. You can also view the photo album below as it grows over the next three weeks.
Please can you also RSVP using the "Attend Funeral" link below - you can choose from "the funeral" at Babworth, "the reception" at Ye Olde Bell, "both" or "neither". If you are unable to attend, even if watching the livestream, please choose "neither". This will really help to give me a rough idea of numbers for both on the day. There are also links below for writing a message and to light a virtual candle if you so wish.
Thank you everyone - I know mum would be sending her love to you all, and I am too.
Take good care and loads of love, Tim xxx
