In loving memory of Maurice Atkins who sadly passed away on 6th September 2026.

He was husband of 61 years to Cath, dad to Jacky and Ken, grandad to Andrew, Linda, Abi, Ben and Richard and great grandad to Huxley, Pippa, Archer, Isla, Jack, Cecilia, Isadora and Federico.

Maurice built a family home in Liss in the early 1970s where he lived for almost 30 years before retiring to Spain, returning to England in the early 2000s. Maurice was a carpenter most of his working life and latterly a self employed private hire driver.

He was a keen darts and snooker player, fisherman and golfer.

Maurice loved his many trips to visit friends and family in Ireland with Cath.

He will be sadly missed by friends and family.

Please join us at The Oaks, Havant on 16 October at 2.30 and afterwards for a celebration that he would have loved at The Wheelwrights Arms in Havant. It was his wish that you come ‘dressed as he would have known you’.

Donations to the Stroke Association.

Goodbye Uncle Maurice..

The last we met you were in good form, happily recalling younger days spent with your brother John and his wife Sheilagh (my mum & dad) and of course Aunty Cath …. and then having a good old moan about modern life of course.

I have very happy memories all us young kids used to play together whilst the grown-ups held a card school with a can or two of ‘party six’, or we met up at the Deer’s Hut. Then later in life having a pint with you in the Liss British Legion, or catching up at our family occasions.

I’ll raise a glass on the day, and think of you all. We’ll open a bottle of Paddy when next we meet….

Rest in peace dad. We had some great times on the golf course and even better times in various bars, especially in Ireland! I will miss our beers on Thursdays and Sundays. Rest easy and save a place for me at that great Irish bar in the sky. Forever in my thoughts with love Ken

Rest in peace now dad, reunited with mum and with an Irish whiskey in your hand! You were so strong and brave despite the increasing pain and difficulties of the last few years and never giving in.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The winds fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again
May god hold you in the palm of his hand

In loving memory, Jacqueline xxx
