It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved Wife, Mum, Nanny and NuNu, Penelope Ella Clubb, who passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Mum was the heart and matriarch of our family. Her family meant everything to her, and she was a caring, nurturing and incredibly loving Mum, Nanny, NuNu and friend. She was always there for the people she loved, with a warmth and generosity that made everyone feel special.

She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She also loved shopping, a good time and, despite her years, was always ready for a party! She had a wonderful sense of fun and a personality that made her impossible to forget.

She leaves behind a family who adored her and who will miss her more than words can say. Although we are heartbroken that she is no longer with us, we feel incredibly lucky to have had her as our Mum and to have shared so many wonderful years with her.

We would love for family and friends to share their own memories, stories and photographs of Mum on this page. Knowing how many lives she touched would mean so much to us.

My dear sister in law Penny. I have so many wonderful memories of times spent with you. From the first time I met you I was 15 and your brother Geoff's girlfriend, you made me so welcome into the family. When we decided to get married you and Lorraine made 7 bridesmaids dresses, just one of so many lovely things you did for me. When Maxine was born you gave me such a lot of advice I learnt so much from you. I wish I'd told you how much you meant to me but I hope you knew. I will miss you Penny.

Dear Penny,
I’m finding it hard to put into words a lifetime of memories that we had as brother and sister.
I remember Saturday afternoons, you & Lorraine would be busy at the sewing machine making your outfits for that night.
The great parties we had, the quiz nights at Lorraine´s, Christmas dinners together. We were always such a close family, we did everything together. The lovely camping holidays where everyone would squeeze into the Fiat 500, kids and all, and drive to Spain. You stuffing your face with mussels at “Papa Smurf’s” in Puerto Pollensa.
You were such a loving, kind & generous person, but God help anyone who had a bigger bowl of mussels than you! Later on we also had some good times visiting you in Les Roques.
You were always the life & soul of the party, always doing something crazy to get a laugh.
I’m going to miss you so much. You have left behind a family who thought the world of you and always will.
I love you so much and I will miss you every day. It breaks my heart to know that you have gone.
Love you always,
Geoffrey

Dear Auntie Penny,
Thank you for being a great Auntie to me. I was always at your house as a kid and I loved being there.
I have lovely childhood memories of all the great parties you held. You and Auntie Lorraine tap dancing, you used to push her out of the way to get in front!
I loved watching your version of the act “Sisters”.
At the parties we would always end up doing "up the middle" and the conga. You loved having a laugh and you didn’t care what you did as long as you were enjoying yourself.
You even played hockey with my boys when you were in your 70s!
You also had a caring side, as I personally experienced when I came to visit you at Les Roques after suffering a miscarriage. You didn’t stop worrying about me and making sure I was OK.
I will always remember how you looked after me and comforted me when I needed it.
My boys also have the beautiful blankets you made for them, and the Christmas stockings come out every year.
Everyone who knew you knows that you loved cream cakes. You used to say that the cholesterol tablets needed something to do when you weren’t supposed be eating them.
Even when you were very poorly, we laughed when I told you to liquidise them to help you put on weight.
You laughed right up to when you couldn’t anymore. Your laugh and sense of humour will be missed by everyone.
Auntie Penny, you will be a hard act to follow, as you lived life to the full, and you will be dearly missed by all of your family and friends.
I hope wherever you are, you have found Auntie Lorraine and you are tap dancing again.
Love always,

Maxine

Penny has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories were at her mother Vera’s flat, and of her helping me draw. Her patience and attention and care with kids was always there, as was the sense of humour. I remember her making me laugh and asking me why my drawing of a lady had a club foot. I was 5. She used humour for every occasion.

Like many naturally funny people, Penny was also so intelligent. I loved that she used to question everything and everyone! Good qualities to have in life that I’m sure she passed on.

Like my brother said, our childhood is full of happy memories of spending time with Penny and her family: Christmases, New Year’s Eve parties, Sunday day trips to the countryside and holidays in Spain. Penny was always a main character at any event. Her sense of fun and wanting other people to have fun was always apparent.

Another side of Penny I was reflecting on recently was how utterly down to earth she was. She was one of the least judgemental people I knew. Opinionated, yes. But never judgemental. There were never any airs and graces. What you saw was what you got. And that translated into her humour once again, where she was always happy to be self deprecating, for the laugh.

Rest in peace Penny. When much loved and larger than life characters depart, it leaves a space that is hard to fill, and for Mick, Joanne, Sarah and Steven and her grandkids it must be so hard.

On my own part, I am so grateful she was a family member who was there for me, for which I feel very lucky. I’ll miss you very much.

Penny was such a warm, funny and wonderful lady, and I feel very lucky to have had the pleasure of spending time with her and the family over the years. We shared so many laughs and happy moments, and she had a wonderful way of bringing warmth and joy wherever she was.

She will be deeply missed, but I will always remember her with a smile and so much affection. I’m grateful for all the lovely memories and laughter we shared.

Rest peacefully, dear Penny 🙏 You will be missed more than words can say 💜💜💜💜💜

For lovely Penny, such great times with you, always laughing and giggling from the times in Farnfield House back in the day where you held the most fun filled parties, everyone singing and dancing in fancy dress (singing pack up your troubles) Brilliant times. Then to the time in Spain with us all decorating the bedrooms with paint and sponges!. All the shopping excursions to craft fairs around Kent always finishing off with tea and cake of course. You never ceased to amaze me with your amazing energy and of course your wicked sense of humour. You were always the last one standing at parties with not an ounce of alcohol only tea! You will be sorely missed ‘Pen’.

I have lots of memories of Auntie Penny. Not my actual aunty but my mum Rene and her were very close growing up, like sisters. A big group of us must have spent every Christmas and New Year together in “aunty” Lorraine’s house and they are very happy memories from my childhood. I’ll remember Penny for her overriding sense of humour and I’m filled with happiness not sadness when I recall the times we all spent together. Rest in peace Penny. Chris Cheverall x
