In loving memory of Colin John O’Connell, known by most of us as Nobby. Sadly he passed away in August 2026, aged 72, a week before his 73rd birthday.
He is a much-loved dad, proud grandad, beloved fiancé, adored brother to 10 siblings, son, uncle, father-in-law and friend to many of us.

A hardworking plasterer, Nobby was a private and quiet man with a fantastic sense of humour and an enormous heart. He had a wonderful way of warming the hearts of everyone around him with his kindness and humour.

He loved playing his banjo, drinking Guinness, country music, cooking, making his cider, woodwork and visiting the west country for only the best Cornish pasty's.
Above all, he adored his family, — especially his daughter, Karina and his grandchildren, Delilah and Callum and his son-in-law, Dan. Coming from a large Irish family, his brothers and sisters meant the world to him, with a life time of memories with them.

Nobby was simply the best and will be remembered with so much love by everyone lucky enough to have known him. The memories of him will forever light up a room, with every story told.

After losing his beloved fiance, Maureen 20 years ago, we take comfort in thinking that they are now together once again.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts. ❤️

Colin didn't want a traditional funeral, instead he asked everyone to raise a Guinness to him, or a drink of your choice.

From those school drop offs and pick ups, to coming round for dinner, random facts and accidentally breaking your furniture - lots of memories and laughs that will never be forgotten. Nothing was ever too much of an ask for Nobby and the house always had a welcoming atmosphere. Thanks for the memories and good times. Gone but not forgotten. Rest easy and have a Guinness up there 🍻

So sorry to hear of the sad loss of a dear friend. Many laughs had as your plastering student and working with you. Especially plodding along in your old Volkswagen van. Lots of drinks shared on many a night in the old Whitehouse pub. I will definitely being raising a Guinness to you.
Great Memories, Nobby, I will never forget our times together
