Antonio 'Tony' Suglini (26 Jan 1943 - 26 Aug 2026)

Tony was a true gentleman and friend to all the EGGS. He was an ever present and will be greatly missed by all.

It was an honour to be part of such a wonderful celebration and memory of life yesterday.
Tony was a wonderful, kind and generous man, and it was a privilege to have him as part of my family too.
His smile, energy and most certainly dancing will be missed at all of our family gatherings in the future. x

Tony, was always smiling. He had a way of making you feel good, just being around him. You knew you were in safe hands. He had a presence that was always warm, welcoming and incredibly humble. He will be greatly missed.

My memories of Tony go back a long time.
Days when we were neighbours with our growing families in Bartley Close. We were in fact a very “close” knit community with friendships much deeper than neighbours today. There were parties and shared festive events
because we all moved in at the same time and, with a few exceptions, were young and fit.
Tony was right there in the thick of it stringing up celebration bunting with all the men for The Queen’s Silver Jubilee street party adding his Italian
camaraderie and banter with the guys.
He loved to show that generous spirit by inviting friends to share a meal and was always welcoming and kind.
He had a big heart and those that knew him and loved him will miss him until we all meet again.

I first got to know Tony when we moved into Bartley Close when I was around 8 years old. Memories from childhood are of Tony’s wonderfully tended garden which was our playground for longs summer days that stretched on forever.

As a teenager Tony ensured I was coached in how to open a bottle of wine properly and along with Eve they opened their home to us kids who came and went with the easy familiarity of an extended family.

As an adult I came to know him as a warm and generous man full of encouragement and love who adored his family and always wanted to know about ours.

There are some people who have been part of your life for so long that when they are no longer around to see and hear it leaves an empty space you didn’t realise would be there. But as men of faith Tony and I know, along with his wonderful wife and family, that our parting is temporary until we reunite around the throne of grace.

Ciao until we meet again my friend.

We’ll always remember his beautiful smile and, of course, that he was the best ice cream man ever!
