Funeral Director
In loving memory of Stephen Close who sadly passed away on 20th August 2026
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you all the passing of my beloved Dad.
Most of you will have known Dad, and many of you will have loved him too. After battling cancer and putting up one hell of a fight he passed away on 20th August 2026.
He was a fighter, and fight he did. Right until the very end.
Dad was one of those people with a character you simply never forgot. He left an impression on everyone who knew him, and he will be remembered not only for the fighter he was, but for the person he was and the love he gave. 💚 In Loving Memory of Dad 🕊️
Since Dad passed, so many people have reached out asking about his funeral and asking if they can come and say goodbye. It has really reminded us just how many lives Dad touched throughout his life.
Mum would therefore like to open Dad’s funeral to anyone who knew him and wishes to attend. You are all very welcome.

📍 Romsey Crematorium
🕟 4:30pm
After the service, we will be heading to Romsey Royal British Legion, near Waitrose, where we would love for everyone to join us. A chance to share a drink, tell stories, have a laugh, shed a tear and remember Dad for the character he was.
Dress code: Traditional black funeral attire, with a splash of dark green 💚 to represent the two huge parts of Dad’s life - the Army and the Ambulance Service.
💚 Donations in Dad’s memory
Rather than flowers, if anyone would like to make a donation in Dad’s memory, we have chosen three charities that were particularly close to his heart:
•Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
•RSPCA
•World Animal Protection
There will be a link to follow with further details for anyone who would like to make a donation.
There are going to be a lot of people missing Dad, and we know there are many who would like the opportunity to say their own goodbye. So, if Dad was part of your life in any way, please know that you are welcome to come and be part of ours as we celebrate his life.
Thank you for every message, every memory, every story, every kind word and every bit of support we have received. Xx
