What can I say about Brian? He was a wonderful father-in-law, with a generous heart and big hands; a man of compassion, calm strength, wisdom, and a deep love for his family. He had a great sense of humour. You would often hear him singing the wrong words to a song, and it would always put a smile on my face.

You could often find Brian sitting quietly in the corner of a room, reading a novel, or peering through his binoculars, watching the birds feeding in the garden. And if he wasn’t there, he was probably at his allotment. He loved being surrounded by nature and wildlife, enjoying the peace and quiet before returning to the hustle and bustle of family life.

What endeared Brian to me most was the way he accepted me into the family with open arms, warmth, and kindness, and his quiet willingness to support others. Your absence is deeply felt, and I will be forever grateful for the many memories of love and laughter, and for the lessons you shared.

When I’m whiling away the hours in the garden, feeding the birds, I’ll think of you, Brian, with a big grin — and remember all the love and laughter you brought into our lives.

Rest in peace, Uncle Brian. You were always kind and good fun; I'll always remember with fondness the fact that you always spoke to me like an adult, even as a child. You were and remain a credit to your family.
