In loving memory of Barbara Gilbert who sadly passed away on 4th August 2026.
Barbara loved being a twin and was heart broken when her beautiful sister passed away in May. From the stories she has told me, they were quite mischievous as children! She was very proud of her job working as first cashier in Lloyds bank Charing Cross branch before she left to have children. Barbara married Alan in 1963, they met at Ilford Palais and Alan used to tell a story saying one of the first things she said to him was “do you want to meet my sister?” !!!! Barbara had two children, Richard and Mary. Richard sadly died in 1992 and we ask for any donations to be made to Mencap through this page, a charity which was very close to Barbara’s heart. After Alan died in 2021, Barbara continued to remain positive and we had so many fun filled times with her and I will always be incredibly grateful for that. I would like to thank all the wonderful carers from Anglian Care who loved and cared for mum, she loved their visits and enjoyed getting to know them. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. Barbara is at peace now, with Alan, Sheila and Richard. Barbara was always positive, bright and cheerful and had a wonderful sense of humour. I have known her as long as I have known Mary - 44 years; and Alan and Barbara were always very kind and welcoming to me and my parents. I hope my parents are laughing together with Alan and Barbara and talking about music, books etc. I will miss her very much but am pleased she is now at peace after too much suffering. Barbara was an amazing lady and it was an absolute pleasure to look after such an amazing lady and also the lovely Alan that definitely kept me on my toes. You all are such an amazing family and I just want to say a massive Thank you for everything. I shall miss Barbara dearly, and all of you are in my thoughts at this very tough time. Mary you are amazing, but what else could you be after being bought up by two such amazing parents.
