In loving memory of our mum, nana, sister and friend Anne Marjorie Allison who sadly passed away on 21st July 2026.

Born in South Shields, the elder of twin girls she attended Mortimer Road infant and junior school and was head girl at Grammar school. Anne studied maths, further maths and physics at A level and continued her education and love of numbers with a degree in maths at Royal Holloway College.

It was at college she met her first husband and married after graduating, moving to Telford she had Peter and two years later Helen. The family moved to East Yorkshire and then Copmanthorpe, when the marriage failed Anne started working at Askham Bryan College in the account department.

Anne met Tony in 1992 and after they married enjoyed early retirement with keen interests in gardening and bridge. Anne joined York U3A and was a cashier for them for over 10 years and participated in Mahjong, croquet and rummikub groups.

Anne’s main passion and interest was walking, she was a member of four different groups and thought nothing of walking 20 miles a day. Sadly a lot of the walking groups stopped with Covid and as the epidemic finished the first signs of cancer were showing.

Anne underwent chemotherapy and major surgery for cancer of the oesophagus but secondary cancer then spread to both lungs. She dealt with it all bravely and without complaint, referring to being in discomfort rather than in pain. She was able to lead a fairly normal life for much of the time, but her health and strength began to fail over these last months.
