We lost a very dear lady in July 2026.
It sounds like the universe was kind to her - I understand that after a short illness, she slipped into a coma and was taken quietly and peacefully. I hope that was the case, but please forgive me if I've got that wrong.
Thérèse was small in stature but mighty in her 4ft-something space.
Mighty in generosity and kindness. Unwavering in her giving, without expecting anything back.
She guided me to shore with my Aunty Penny on one harrowing day when I was 6. These two ladies took me under their wing and kept an eye out.
They collaborated to accept and absorb the trauma of a heartbroken child into their world and tackle what came their way. With stuff in their own lives to deal with.
Well, not just me. My brother too.
They took us on holidays. I can't imagine how challenging that must have been. Two young, grieving children missing their parents. And how that presented to them.
I will always be grateful to Thérèse. As I am for Aunty Penny.
The memory of planning Aunty Penny's surprise 70th with her is truly special.
I liked her so much. May she shine down on us and may her legacy live on.
A petite but mighty lady who gifted the world.
