Put simply, Carole was one of the most inspirational students I ever had the pleasure to teach. She and I crossed paths when she was a postgraduate student at the University of Nottingham and despite the physical challenges she faced, she gave it more than her best shot. She had a thirst for learning and for life in general - she was a model of how to make the most of every opportunity. On a more personal level I found her a really lovely person, incredibly supportive and empathic with regard to the experiences of other people. I loved her humour and 'Nottingham-ness' too, captured in her FB name 'Carole Bramley Apple'. I'm really saddened to hear of her passing. R.I.P. Carole.
