Funeral Director
In loving memory of Derek John Jennings who sadly passed away on 12th July 2026. Those that knew our dad know he was a remarkable and wonderful man who loved his family and will be missed dearly.
We will forever hold him in our hearts and admire his strength, courage and resilience over his last few years.
We would like to share the details of Dad’s funeral and wake with you.
Dad’s funeral will take place on Thursday 6th August 2026 at 12pm at:
Basildon and District Crematorium & Cemetery
Church Road
Bowers Gifford
Basildon
Essex
SS13 2HG
This will be followed by a wake at:
Rayleigh Baptist Church
High Street
Rayleigh
SS6 7QA
The wake will be an opportunity for us all to come together, share memories and stories, and celebrate Dad’s life with the people who knew and loved him.
There is parking available at Castle Road Car Park, and the church is just a short 5-minute walk away.
We would like everyone to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. There is absolutely no need to wear black or formal clothing — we would much rather everyone come as themselves and remember Dad in their own way.
If you are planning on joining please could you let us know, (either by messaging one of the family or replying on this page), along with the number of people attending, so we can make sure we have enough food and refreshments for everyone. ❤️
We would love for you to join us as we say our final goodbye to Dad and remember the wonderful person he was.
🕊️ If you would like to do something in Dad’s memory, you can make a donation to Haematology Cancer Care via this page. We have chosen this charity because dad had Non Hodgkins Lymphoma which was treated successfully but then returned. Following chemotherapy he went on to have an autologous stem cell transplant at University College London Hospital which prolonged his life significantly. We will be forever grateful for the years this gave us with our dad and because of this he got to meet all of his grandchildren who he loved so dearly.
