In loving memory of Brian Stephen Funnell who sadly passed away on 5th July 2026.
Dad’s time on earth sadly came to an end one day after his 80th Birthday. He is finally reunited with Mum and will be missed terribly by us all 💔

Lots of happy memories of you Uncle Brian. I used to look forward to coming to stay with you and Aunty Hilary - musical beds, disco lights, going to the bowls club and the discos and being introduced to meatballs! Not sure I liked the glow in the dark dinosaur poster in Wayne's room though. I loved spending time with you all, whatever my age. Thank you for the memories xxx

Julia and I are thinking of you all today, there is some comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with Hilary who he loved so dearly. Such a lovely person he cut my brother's and my hair for many years as we were growing up. He DJ'd for us at many Design Theatre Workshop discos which helped keep the Youth drama group afloat in the early years and then when we were let down by a l8ve group we had booked for our wedding at the Boatwright Calverley he stepped in as DJ and helped make it into a great evening. He will be sorely missed by all!

Thank you Brian for all those hair cutting sessions at Weekes (even though wMark and I had to take the flack at school when our photos were used to advertise the salon). Thank you for you for being the DJ for the fund raising Discos for Design Theatre Workshop which helped and finally how wonderful that you were able to be the DJ at the Boatwright Calverley for our wedding reception when the live group we had booked months before had broken up without bothering to tell us - such a happy occasion added to by working with you again of course! You will be sorely missed by all!

Dear Brian. So many memories with you (and all the family) from years ago, Sweeney Todd was “the” best disco party in town, from DJ’ing for my 21st and our wedding, playing bowls with you in many many teams and competitions….hit the highs when we were in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest “whitewash in a national game of bowls” (winners of course). You will always be in my thoughts mate. R.I.P. Brian.

What a gentleman, Brian did our engagement disco in 1996 and I'm so glad we asked him, he was a wonderful man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. I'm going to miss his cheeky text messages when he needed a new sharps box. Shame we never did get that last coffee together. RIP Brian, reunited with Hilary I'm proud to have known you
