In loving memory of Bridget Holmes, who sadly passed away on 6th June 2026
Bridget was loved by so many. She endured the loss of Annie, her grandniece, and then Colin, Annie's husband, five months later. This was heartbreaking for her as Annie was like a daughter to both her and Martin.
The sudden passing of her beloved husband, Martin, broke her heart and left her worried about her son, Paul, who suffered a catastrophic head injury years earlier. Biddy was concerned as to what would happen to Paul if she passed away. Unfortunately, Paul passed away suddenly a few months later and though this shattered her, it also brought her some peace that he had joined Annie, Colin, and Martin in heaven. To lose four people she loved within eighteen months was devastating however the strength of faith helped her come to terms with their loss.
Biddy faced her cancer diagnosis with amazing stoicism, making all arrangements for when she was no longer here. The last few months were very hard for this amazing Irish woman, who was used to being so active .
She loved shopping for food in her favorite supermarkets. She loved cooking and baking. Biddy could have fed half of Greenwich with the food she had in her fridge and freezer. She loved her coffee morning and her Bingo and was distraught that she was unable to attend because she became so ill. She had so many friends in the Irish pensioners' club and was well known to the Irish Community. She was a warm, kind, generous soul who will be sorely missed by so many.
