In loving memory of Ann Jwala who passed away on 17 June 2026, aged 90 years.
Mother of Chandra and Clare, Granny Ann to Danny, Fabian and Alex, mother-in-law of Roger and Kevin, and friend and neighbour to many.
The cremation and service will to be held at Trent Valley Crematorium, Aston-on-Trent followed by a gathering at Derby Urban Church/Ozzy Road Baptist for a cream tea.
The service will be live streamed, and details will be shared on this page a few days beforehand.
Attire - bright and colourful, anything that reminds you of Ann.

I met Ann when I joined Derby’s Embroiderers Guild, in 2016? I was a complete novice in the world of embroidery, but had been involved in textiles since school in the sixties.
The EG was rather overwhelming, the first time I attended a meeting, but I couldn’t believe how friendly, and welcoming the group were. I can’t remember if I sat with Ann and her friends on the first meeting, but over the years she guided me, gifted me things I ‘needed’ for projects and was so quick to offer titbits of advice.
After sometime, I realised why she was so familiar to me. I had lived and worked in Bath in the eighties and of course, I visited the book shop she ran there. The world can seem small at times, Ann definitely touched my world with her generosity. I shall miss her gentle, kind resolve.
My thoughts are with her family and close (stitch) friends.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Aunt Anne’s passing. Although I had the privilege of meeting her only once, her warmth, creativity, and vibrant spirit left an unforgettable impression on me. I still treasure the beautiful album she lovingly created for me in such a short time, and the handcrafted chessboard she made for my late mother remains a cherished keepsake in our home. She was truly a gifted, caring, and remarkable woman who lived her life to the fullest. My heart and prayers are with my dear cousins, Chandra and Clare, their husbands, and their sons during this difficult time. While she will be deeply missed, I know her love, kindness, and the beautiful memories she created will live on forever in all who were blessed to know her. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

I first met Ann when I joined the Embroidery Guild in 2009. She was always keen to help me and advise on where to get all the ‘stuff’ I needed. A strange thing but recently out of all my friends in the new group I was wondering how Ann was. I am now many miles away in the Cotswolds so my friends up in Derby are precious to me. I remember her bringing her grandson along to some of the activities. I have already missed her but am sorry that I will not be able to see her. Great sympathy to all her family who will surely miss her.
