Lucy Thorpe (17 Aug 1972 - 18 Jun 2026)

I was incredibly shocked to hear of Lucy's sudden passing. I will forever remember her for her amazing stationery, gorgeous handbags, a creative force in the classroom with inspiring ideas, her love to travel and for living life to the fullest.
My thoughts are with her family and her niece and nephew who I know she adored.

I was so saddened and shocked to hear the news of Lucy's passing... she was so full of life with a terrific sense of humour. I have many fond memories of her especially from when she visited me in Derbyshire and from the NGHS trips to London with Year 6. I can't make the funeral as I'm on holiday which is a real shame. my heart goes out to her parents and sister and family whom she spoke of so often and so warmly. I'm so sorry for your loss

It was a great shock to hear of Lucy’s passing. She was an outstanding member of staff and will be missed so much. I first met her when she taught my daughter Maths and did so much to build her confidence. It was clear then that she really understood children and how to get the best out of them and this remained the case when she joined the High School. She had a smile for everyone and cared passionately about setting high standards but also about the children and staff. In recent times she showed that she also had a sharp, strategic mind and played a vital role in developing and implementing many strategic projects to the benefit of the School. Her support for the changes made was unwavering and she deserves much credit for all her hard work often to tight deadlines. Sadly I can’t be at the funeral but I will think of Lucy often- her smile, her love of children, her care, her laughter, the ‘jazz hands’ and so much more.

I was so sad to hear of Lucy’s passing. I had not seen her for many years but have precious memories of university years with her - sharing a flat in Venice and going on an archaeological dig in Northumberland. She was always up for adventure, mischief and above all, fun. Reading these messages; I am so glad to hear of her career in education where she has clearly made a huge, positive impact on all those around her. My thoughts are with her family and close friends.
