Funeral Director
In loving memory of Pamela Metcalf who sadly passed away on 15th June 2026, following a decline in her health at the age of 96 and a half.
Born in Upminster, she lived up in Cranston Park Avenue with her parents, Sid and Edie and her sister Shirley. She married Les in 1954 and they bought an house in Avon Road, welcomed their daughter Kate in 1957, followed by a son Andrew in 1960. They lived there until 1966 when Les’s job meant moving with Kate and Andrew to Thorpe Bay, where they lived happily in Cherrybrook for many years. She started her working life with Barclays DCO in Gracechurch Street before having Kate. When she moved to Thorpe Bay, she worked for Amstrad in its early days in Shoeburyness, Keymed and then worked for the Civil Service as a Valuation Officer for many years until she retired.
In October 1998 she took great joy in the arrival of her only grandchild, Megan Rose.
Les passed away in 2003. In 2017 she moved to Leigh on Sea to live with her dear friend, Dennis.
After the death of Dennis in 2020, she moved to Burges Court, back in Thorpe Bay where she lived until earlier this year, making lots of new friends and happy memories.
Pam loved playing and watching tennis, playing up until the impressive age of 85 years old! She also loved her garden, cooking and has travelled all over the world with her family and friends. She also enjoyed dressmaking and playing cards.
She will be sadly missed by Andrew, Kate and her husband, Tony, grandaughter Megan & her sister Shirley.
Family flowers only please. Donations to the RNLI.
