In Loving Memory of Elsie Beryl Buxton
24 July 1932 – 28 May 2026

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman, Elsie Beryl Buxton who passed away peacefully on 28 May 2026 at the age of 93.

Born on 24 July 1932 in Kirkby in Ashfield, Beryl was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Selina Houlston, both of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, George, and her siblings: brothers Les and Ken, and sisters Kath and Renee. We take comfort in imagining them all reunited once more.

Above all else, Beryl was devoted to her family. She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Angela Johnson, and son-in-law David; her much-loved granddaughters, Yolanda Lakin and her husband Adam, and Cath and her partner Conner; and her grandson, Robert and his wife Morgan. She was also a proud and loving great-grandmother to Riley and Kaison, who brought her immense happiness and pride. Beryl was also a much-loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart and will miss her dearly.

Beryl dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She created a warm and loving home and gave so much of herself to those around her. Her care, support and unwavering love formed the heart of her family and will continue to be felt for generations to come.

She had a true zest for life and took great pleasure in travelling, going on holidays, shopping and dancing. Whether she was exploring somewhere new, enjoying a shopping trip, or taking to the dance floor with a smile on her face, Beryl embraced life with enthusiasm and joy.

Those who knew Beryl will remember her as a woman of extraordinary kindness. She was easygoing, had a wonderful sense of humour, and possessed a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. She faced life's challenges with courage and determination and was, without doubt, one of the strongest people you could ever hope to meet.

Her love was unconditional, her laughter was comforting, and her presence made people feel safe and valued. She had a gift for making others smile and for bringing warmth to every room she entered.

Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we are incredibly grateful for the many years, memories and love that Beryl gave to us. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the values she instilled, and in the countless happy memories she leaves behind.

Beryl was deeply loved and will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten. May we honour her memory by carrying forward her kindness, her resilience, and her ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures.
