With great sadness my Mum, Maureen Housden, passed away on the 26th May 2026. She had been feeling unwell from the end of last year. After numerous visits to doctors, the hospital and undergoing extensive tests, she was diagnosed with colon cancer on 15th April 2026. Unfortunately the diagnosis was late and the cancer aggressive.
Following a hospital stay for three weeks, she moved into Respite Care at a nursing home, where sadly she became progressively unwell. In the early hours of the 26th May, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
If you would like to celebrate her life with family and friends, her funeral will be taking place on Wednesday 24th June at Medway Crematorium, Bluebell Hill at 11.30am. This will be followed by a wake at Bridgewood Hotel. It would be helpful if you could let me know if you would like to join us, by emailing me at kairvine2@gmail.com.
Mum and I talked through her funeral whilst she was in the care home and she expressed a wish that if you wanted to you could either send flowers or make a donation to Cancer Research UK. Flowers can be sent to the funeral directors, T Allen at 126B Maidstone Road, Rochester’s ME1 3DT, they must arrive by 9.30am on the day of the funeral or they can be brought to the crematorium on the day.
