ROSA COOPER

Terry was a good friend and long time neighbour. She had a great sense of humour and loved a laugh. Political correctness passed her by and she had great fun playing on it - no male was safe!

Family was everything to Terry and she loved to share in all their events whether in the UK or travelling to the USA to see Lesley and her family.

Terry really loved her home and garden and Jackie made sure they always looked exactly how she wanted them, involving her in every decision and sharing in her pleasure.

She greatly loved talking about all the many special celebrations with Jackie including tea at the Dorchester and travelling on the Orient Express with neighbours Barry and Sandra. She also liked going on their almost daily excursions and loved her hot chocolate with toppings.

Terry also loved to sing - we’ll never forget her renderings of “it’s a long way to Tipperary” - and to dance even as recently as the “Close” neighbourhood Coronation party on her drive.

On Sunday afternoons, Terry, in her nineties, learned how to use an iPad after the initial early dementia diagnosis, and amazed Jackie and me with how much she loved doing puzzles on it. She was always happy to try new games and had a huge amount of fun learning how to play over 30 different ones including jigsaws, mahjong, colour sort and spot the difference. However, her greatest favourite was a memory cards game played every week against Jackie and she frequently accused Jackie of cheating when she didn’t win!
As for being a winner, I’ve never known anyone so lucky with scratch-cards and at the weekly bingo with local friends.

She will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace Terry, with Ron and Lesley

Mrs Cooper was a truly one-of-a-kind lady whose presence could light up any room. Lively, bubbly, and full of character, she was always singing away and bringing smiles to everyone she met. Her infectious laughter, raunchy sense of humour, and wonderful personality meant that everyone knew and loved Mrs Cooper. She was a long-standing client who looked forward to her weekly Thursday hair appointments, and we always looked forward to seeing her walk through the door. She spoke so fondly of her beloved late husband and was immensely grateful for her two daughters, whom she adored. Mrs Cooper leaves behind countless happy memories, laughter, and a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

All our Love

Terry was such a larger than life character who always made me smile. In one of our last conversations she said we should all just smile and listen to music and be happy. She got that right,
Loved by so many and especially her lovely Jack.
RIP Terry, back with Ron and Lesley now at peace x

It was an absolute privilege to have known Terry through the Chatham café. She brought so much warmth, laughter, and personality into the room every time she came along. Terry was a true character, with a wonderful spirit that shone through, no matter the day.
She had a way of lifting those around her, creating smiles that we will always remember!
She will be greatly missed, but her laughter, her charm, and the happiness she brought will stay with us always.
With deepest sympathy from Sara and all at ADSS.

Auntie Terry didn’t mince her words- or anything else. Ferociously funny, impossibly strong, and entirely unfiltered. She was an inspiration to everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She will be missed more than she’d probably allow us to admit, and mourned in language she would thoroughly approve of.
Rest easy Auntie Terry. xx

Aunty Terry was the life and soul of any gathering. She had a way of lighting up the room from the moment she walked in, and you always knew exactly where you stood with her - she said it as she saw it, every time. I’ll miss her laugh, her honesty, and the warmth she brought to every family occasion. She was one of a kind, and I feel lucky to have called her my aunty. Rest well, Aunty Terry.

What can I say ! All these wonderful messages say it all, about the wonderful Terry. Loved by so many.
It’s been a privilege to know Terry and all the Cooper family. I became Lesley’s friend when I was 12. Only to learn of our family connections. My Mum (Joan Clarke) knew Terry and Ron. They’d grown up together, in Darnley Road. Our friendship lasted 60 years
My heart goes out to Jackie losing Lesley and Terry so close together. As others have said they are at peace and free of pain now. Together with Ron.

Keep singing and smiling Terry.

Thinking of Jackie , Dan, Audra and Leo . Also Terry’s close family and friends. Lots of love

The Cooper ladies are so very special to me! They allowed me to have 3 amazing adventures that I will never forget. Lesley was my best friend for 37 years, my sister from the mother country and sister by choice, and Terry was “Mum”. They are family, and the loss of Mum and Lesley so close together has been devastating to so many, and my heart breaks for Jackie and Lesley’s kids. But I am so thankful that they are no longer feeling pain or sickness.

It was heartbreaking to hear about the passing of Terry so soon after the passing of her daughter, Lesley. Les and I met through school when we were 11 and remained friends over all the years since. We started knocking around together once we had left school and had joined the world of work and that is when I got to know the lovely Cooper family. I remember the wonderful Sunday dinners that Terry cooked and how I was first introduced to horseradish sauce to go with the beef - wonderful, so thank you for that Terry! I remember them as always a happy and down to earth family who were fun to be around. More recently, my friend Bernice and I had been meeting up with Terry and Jackie at Dobbies for coffee (or Terry’s favourite of hot chocolate with cream on top!). Such a joy to be with both of them, Terry occasionally breaking into quiet singing and Jackie so calm, caring and patient with her. Rest in peace, Terry, you will be greatly missed.

With Auntie Jackie and my mum being best friends for decades, Terry was so much more than just a friend’s mum. Terry has been woven into our family for as long as I can remember. Over the last 35 years, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of spending time with her, and my earliest memories are filled with her trademark flirty banter with my Dad, who if you ask me, definitely got a bit more bashful than he liked to admit!

Terry always said exactly what was on her mind with absolutely no filters and she brightened every room she was in.

Reading everyone else’s comments, I can see that was also felt by everyone who met her. A deeply loving, heartwarming woman who meant the world to everyone around her. She was incredibly special to my mum, and never failed to bring joy to the rest of the family too.

It was wonderful to have her at Edward’s birthday in April, and taking the spotlight with her singing in the living room at Kirstie’s 30th (and making everyone weep).

It’s incredibly sad to say goodbye, but we’ll never stop laughing at the character she was.

Sending so much love from me, Laura, Edward and Archer to Auntie Jackie and all Terry’s family. Rest peacefully, Terry. You will be missed.

We will remember Terry with much love and affection. She loved Tipping Point on the television and would love to have a sing song, changing the words in Its a Long Way to Tipperary from Farewell Leicester Square to Farewell Albert Square! Another favourite was Oh God Our Help In Ages Past. We enjoyed many chats over the garden fence, she was a very special lady. RIP Terry with Ron and Lesley. Lots of love. We will miss you.
