In loving memory of Ben Eldridge who sadly passed away on 11th May 2026, age 44.

Ben is very much loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

We are sure you were all aware Ben was a spoilt only child. The stories that Graham and I are now hearing about from many years back confirm that he and his friends whose names I won’t mention he was a very naughty young man. Ben lived for the day fast and loud, if he loved you, you knew it. If you annoyed him you knew it. Ben could spend money like it was going out of fashion and he liked the best things in life. He told me the other day that he felt that he had lived 10 years in the last 3 years and that he had bought all the things that he ever had wanted to buy and didn’t have to get up for work. Ben has many wonderful friends.

Ben was very generous and would help anyone who needed it. He loved his food especially jerk chicken, rice and peas. Ben worked in the NHS for over 20 years a career that he was proud about and made many friends. When Ben had appointments with his Oncology Consultant it was like listening to 2 old friends.

Ben fought his battle hard and went through some traumatic events but carried on regardless with such courage. Life is cruel and Cancer sucks. Ben is cherished by his Dad and I and our hearts will be forever broken xx

Join us in celebrating the life of Ben on 5th June at 12pm at The Spitfire, ME19 4AU. We invite family and friends to share memories and honour their legacy together.

Sorry I couldn’t be there to say goodbye properly to you yesterday. You were in my thoughts all day and I toasted a drink to you last night (yes non alcoholic which you would have mocked me for lol).
My whole time I was at GSTT you were a constant presence maybe because my desk was at the door… always saying morning making me toast, alerting me it was lunch time and my attendance was required, mocking me of my poor relationship choices and my lack of knowledge about cars in general.
Your laugh and cheekiness was the best and you could always tell you were up to something. Made me giggle hearing you come out of aseptics with Carlton as his laugh was legendary too.
You always had time for your girlies and to me you were like a big brother. Advice and saying do you need me to sort him out (haha all of our twatty exes!). Although sometimes we would have a little falling out we would sort it out when one of of us stopped being so stubborn.
After I left we still would chat on Facebook and more recently on insta and you were so lovely about me being a mum and having my little lad. You never complained about anything you were going through just shows your personality and strength through and through.
I will miss you Benny Boy!
Natalie xx

Beautiful service. The words spoken summed up a beautiful, courageous, fearless warrior. We all knew him as Ben. We here in Texas watched Ben’s service live, and we want to express our gratitude for the opportunity.
Love to all whose hearts are broken

  • Thank you Dianna and Lisa for getting up so early to join in the celebration of Ben’s short time here. It went by in a blur through many tears. It was like you say a beautiful service with many friends. Ben would have been proud that they had turned out for him and like Ben would have they shed some tears. The flowers you had sent are beautiful and hopefully someone will dry some for me xx love you all xx

There is nothing we can do to make this day as happy as it was when Ben was here among us. This day should reflect Ben’s achievements and passions that he possessed in his way-too-short years. The beautiful, timeless sentiment reminds us that the value of our time isn't how long we exist, but in the purpose, joy, and memories we create while we are here. As we all continue with our days, remember Ben, if you're ever in a situation where you're not sure what to do, why not ask yourself what Ben would do? Be careful, he was Feisty! Some of you know we are in the United States, unable to be there with you all, but be assured that we are there in spirit. As we go on and celebrate Ben's life, it is my faith that he is with family members and his friends, whom he has said goodbye to. This isn't goodbye; it is truly see you on the other side, Ben. XXXX

My dear cousin Ben, you brought so much joy and laughter to mama, me and to my children! We so wanted to be able to see you on the trip you wanted to make to the US. My heart goes out to your Mum, Dad and to your mates! You told me you would scoop up my little grandson when you made the trip to Heaven and I am quite sure you did! I just talked to you on the second of May 😢 my heart is breaking! You were such a wonderful man and it’s just not fair! 💔 Prayers for your Mum and Dad and all who love you! The pain of loss is horrendous! We love y’all so much! 🙏 😢 I know you were reunited with Aunt Shirley, my Mamar and Grandad; AND boy what a reunion it must have been! I know happy for you Ben and happy for them too; but way too soon for all of us! Love you cousin - see you on the other side!

  • Dianna that is lovely and something that we forget that life is short for some but precious for everyone. He was feisty for sure and would not tolerate anyone upsetting his friends or family that he loved. Dianna and Lisa he loved your interactions. He loved all the gifts you sent him and his socks are with him so your Mama and his Grandma will be impressed. So happy that you will be there with us! Please have some tissues ready because there will not be a dry eye there 🥰

My memories of Ben, cheeky, funny, kind and total ray of sunshine. Although it was a long time ago, we remained in touch via social media and I followed his journey and fight against this god forsaken illness. Still laughing joking and remaining positive till the very end. What an inspiring human he was.
May he rest in eternal peace..
I want to send my deepest condolences to his mum Claire and all his friends and family. Heaven surely has gained a bloody goodun. Xx

  • Hello Liz thank you for supporting the hospice that cared for Ben they are absolute angels. He did like you say put up a fight and unless he told you you would not have known he was so ill. All the stories and lovely comments people are writing are extremely touching and funny we can’t help but shed tears. Our loss is devastating and I’m writing this whilst sitting in the kitchen and to me Ben is up in his bedroom. Love and miss you always xx

My deepest condolences to Ben’s grieving parents, dear Claire and her husband Graham. You had a real lovable mischievous character of a son. He fought long and hard during his battle and for that strength in him, I know, you will have been proud and will always be. Ben definitely ‘showed his quality’ as a teenager working in pharmacy and later as a grown man (FYI - he could give really supporting hugz just when needed xx). I would like to think he is wrapping his happy hugz around you both forever more. 🤗🤗

Annie and I have been your Posties for a few years and if it wasn’t for you ordering parcels Royal Mail would have gone out of business years ago! Ben, you fought your illness with courage, dignity and true grit. You are an inspiration to others and were truly loved. We will miss you opening your front door and saying to us you’re late where is my parcel!! Our thoughts and love to you Claire and Graham. Rest in peace our Ben.

  • Never a truer word said our Ben was this person. Thank you for always going the extra mile (miles) to ensure that Ben’s parcels were always on time and searching for them 😝 you made our lives so much easier. He harassed you with banter but you took it on the shoulder. You have always taken the time to care about Ben, to check on him and follow his progress and for that we are eternally grateful xx
