What can I say..... Jax was my bestie in London. Probably one of the most bizarre friendships you could ever see. She was a Gooner, I was Chelsea, she was a socialist but I was right leaning. It strangely worked, our sense of wicked humour, opinions and views on life were absolutely on
point.
We saw each other through a few tough times and if all else failed, we called each other an expletive, laughed and moved on.
Godspeed my friend, Godspeed and sending love and condolences to your family.

Memories
I first met Jacqui 15+ years ago when she was an outreach worker and came almost daily to the centre where I worked to visit our client group. I later went to work at the same place as her. We had become friends and I was honoured when she asked me to go in our lunch break to marry Amanda at the registry office - it was really amusing going back to work and telling our manager that she had just got married! A few weeks later I attended their (real) magical wedding in Majorca- Spain. I stayed in the apartment with Jacqui, Amanda and the bridesmaids. Today when I was ironing a pink shirt it reminded me of Jacqui ironing her pink shirt on the morning of her wedding and borrowing a pair of my black socks as she had forgotten to pack hers 🤣 Another time was when we went on a Zombie Night in the shopping centre in Southend - what a scary night that was both of us were screaming! Just a few memories of my friendship with Jacqui - Sleep tight now xx

Far too soon to say goodbye to you Jacqui, yet here we are.
We first met when I started volunteering at CRI, we became firm friends when I put a poo shaped soap bar under your desk and our love of pranks was born.
Living just round the corner, we walked home most days together and you saved my sanity more than once as we debriefed after particularly tough days.
So many fond memories, my friend, you are sorely missed.

She is Gone

By David Harkins

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

. I’d just like to share a few thoughts about Jacquie.
I first met Jac when I was 11 years old, starting at Shoebury Comp, as it was known back then. I suppose it was through sports that I really got to know her—we were both on the hockey and netball teams, encouraged by our lovely teachers, Marion Webber and Miss Agnew.
We quickly became great friends and discovered we lived very close to each other, so our daily walks to and from school—yes, we all walked in those days—became the foundation of a friendship that would last a lifetime.
I don’t have one particular defining moment or a single funny story to share, but I remember Jac as the joker of the group—quick-witted and always up for a laugh. Her laughter, as you all know, was completely infectious. Whenever us girls—old ladies now—got together, we’d somehow turn back into 14-year-olds again, giggling over our schoolgirl antics.
Jac was also our protector. Not that she went looking for trouble, but if it came our way, she’d be the one at the front, completely fearless.
We started work together at Access—though we both hated it—and not long after, Jac pursued her career in the Army. She was so proud to serve her country. I remember one of her stories about being sent to the Falkland Islands after the war—she said she spent most of her time a little “sloshed,” but still, in her own way, serving Queen and country.
We lost touch for a few years, but reconnected when she returned home to care for her dad when he became unwell. It was as though no time had passed at all. She got to know my children and formed a special bond with my son, Tom.
I later emigrated to Australia, and although we didn’t see each other often after that, thanks to Facebook we were able to stay connected and share in each other’s lives.
One of the most defining moments in Jacquie’s life was meeting and marrying Amanda. She was so happy. And then came Ella Rae—her greatest joy. She was such a proud mum, and together they created a truly beautiful family.
I’m sure Jacquie would be deeply moved by the number of people who loved her and by how much she will be missed by everyone here today.
For me, my lasting memories will always be of her soft, funny, caring, and loyal nature—and above all, her laughter.
Rest in peace, my dear friend. Till wee meet again love Nicky Cox
