In loving memory of Diana Salisbury who sadly passed away on 6th May 2026.
Diana was born in Newdigate in 1937 - the first child of George and Louis Green.
Diana lived almost her whole life in Newdigate and was a valued and much loved member of the village community.
She married Peter Salisbury in 1960 at St Peter’s church and went on to have two daughters, Cathy and Heather and one grandson, Oscar.
Her passions were wildlife and nature, sewing and embroidery and reading. She was a highly read and creative lady. She also adored her various cats and guinea pigs over the years. She was a member of the church choir and was involved in numerous village groups including the local Friendship Group.
Diana worked in various local roles including Newdigate CofE Primary School and the village GP practise. She was also a Tree Warden for the Woodland Trust and volunteered at Dorking hospitals shop.
Although Diana was in many ways a fixture of Newdigate, she absolutely loved travel and over the years went on some remarkable adventures including The Antarctic and South Georgia.
In latter years, although living in Dorking, her heart and soul were forever in Newdigate and for her, returning to the village one final time, is her homecoming.

Shortly after my first husband died Diana invited me to go on a trip to the artic with her. She was the kindest and most considerate companion you could wish for. She helped me through a very bad patch in my life and I retained a good friendship with her for the rest of her life. I will miss her and pray that she is now happy and free in Gods tender care.

Diana always had a warm welcome when I came to the house and she helped me with a couple of sewing projects. We also both shared a passion for guinea pigs and she adopted my hamster when I went to Uni as I couldn't take him with me. A lovely, kind lady.

Diana was a very dear and good friend for 50 years from 1975 when we moved to Newdigate. We shared a love of nature and were tree wardens together for 25 of those years. I missed her companionship when we moved to Sussex. Rest in peace Diana.

Diana was my neighbour and good friend for many happy years in Newdigate. She welcomed my wife and I into the village with a friendly smile and support, I shall remember with great affection.

Diana was a truly remarkable woman. She dedicated herself to those around her and she was always so kind and welcoming. I remember her so clearly at the Weald School as a reassuring and calm presence, especially as the school was in its first year when we all started there. Condolences to Heather, Catherine and Oscar.
