Jackie will be missed by so many. She was always so pleasant and caring and had time for all the children, making them feel so welcome and special. She is indeed a rare gem and a lovely sister in Christ. Rest in peace!

You will always still be Jac-Jac to me! Thank you for being such an utterly awesome woman. Thank you for every cuddle - from me being tiny to recent ones too and then cuddles for my kiddies too. Thank you for every time we got to sit on your lap in the meetings, have chats and snacks with you, every time you stopped to ask about things that mattered to us. Thank you for seeing us as full, valued people even when we were so small. Your heart for others was exceptional and we loved it dearly. Thank you for the impact you've made on my life and so so so many others. You truly leave a legacy behind of people of all ages feeling seen and loved by you. What a wonderful example of loving others as Jesus loves them.

It was our privilege to know Jackie ever since she joined the SCF church family four decades ago. All three of our kids were on the receiving end of Jackie's kindly interest and gentle wisdom from the babysitting stage right through their teens. (Not even mentioning the time Jackie fetched our 7-year-old home one Sunday when we left her behind after the service!). Has anyone ever modelled the values and heart attitudes of God's Kingdom more than Jackie did? And always with a smile and a bit of impish humour alongside. Whenever you met Jackie, she never failed to show genuine interest and give you kind words of encouragement. It's written somewhere: "Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn." That attentiveness to the good of others sums up how Jackie lived. Now she's with her beloved Lord Jesus and she's rejoicing all the way!

Dear Jackie has been a beautiful part of our lives since our children were young. She had such a gift for noticing children and treating them as valuable individuals. Many years ago she would often sit with Mary in Sunday worship times while Colin was busy leading, and be the spare lap that is needed when you have 4 young children. She would be a fun babysitter at home and at Bible Weeks so that we had a chance to go to meetings together....and just a few days before she passed away she told us to make sure we got time together and that we should go out to a favourite garden! She always cared about the person God had put in front of her, whatever their age. That was the forever thoughtful Jackie, who leaves an enormous gap in so many lives including ours.

Jackie was truly one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever met. She always thought the best of people and was always willing to help whenever she could. I taught with her at Temple Sutton Primary School for many years. She taught me so much because she cared so much for the children in her classes. She showed us all what being a Christian means. I will miss her lovely messages. 'It must be time for a coffee surely Mrs.C.' Rest peacefully my friend.

Jackie was the first person to invite us round for lunch when we were new to the church, and introduced us to Rummikub! I worked with Jackie at school as well as in kids work and she always had the ability to make people of all ages feel at home. Never one to stand on ceremony and with a quite wicked sense of humour, you certainly will leave a big gap, but we’ll see you again one day!

We left Southend in 2007 so have not spent time with Jackie in recent years but I just wanted to record what a blessing she was to us as a family when we arrived following a few years in Lesotho. Our sons were recipients of her interest and care. Our youngest Michael was just five and feeling very uprooted from all that was familiar which resulted in him not speaking to anyone outside the family. Jackie never failingly spoke to him and she was the first non family member that he spoke to. She certainly had the gift of encouragement.

I had the privilege of not only worshipping with Jackie for 20+ years at SCF but also working alongside her at temple Sutton Primary School. She was an amazing woman of God who had an overwhelming ability to love others and really want to get involved in their lives. She was always willing to go that extra step for others and is a shining example of God's love and compassion. She loved children and always wanted to see them succeed and grow no matter what circumstances they were experiencing and had the most incredible patience with them.

Jackie was a wonderful example of love and her faith in God was outstanding. Many of us at Wallington Baptist Church where Jackie grew up have known the example of faith she had which rubbed off on each of us. Her witness and love she had for people and especially children was a lifetime of blessing to all who knew her.

To us Jackie was a lady with a huge heart of love and a huge capacity to serve. Devoted baby-sitter, devoted friend, devoted teacher in school and church - devoted lover of Jesus. Her 'how are you?' was never politeness but genuine enquiry. Her faith and faithfulness have marked our lives for good and we are grateful. Enjoy the dancing, Jackie - we'll see you there!

Some people leave a mark on your life that no words can fully capture. Jackie was one of those people.

Over the many decades I knew her, Jackie embodied a rare and precious combination — a deep serenity that came not from an easy life, but from a faith that ran deeper than circumstance.

What made Jackie truly remarkable was her honesty. She had a gift for speaking truth in a way that was both challenging and encouraging — never harsh, never flattering, but always kind and always real.

Her spiritual depth was evident not in grand gestures but in the texture of everyday life — in the way she listened, the way she prayed, the way she cared.
And now she has gone ahead of us. I find myself picturing the moment she arrived — and I can only imagine Jesus standing there with arms open wide, saying: "Well done, good and faithful friend."

That is exactly who Jackie was. Faithful. Steadfast. Deeply loved. And now, perfectly at home.
