In loving memory of Anthony Cox who sadly passed away on 10th April 2026.

Tony was born on 12th January 1955, he was the fourth child of six, to George and Doris Cox in Millbrook, Southampton. He attended school at Newlands Infant and Junior Schools and then went on to Millbrook Secondary School.

After school he worked at Vosper Thorneycrofts as an apprentice shipwright and
then went to work at Southampton Docks. He left the Docks after many years and then worked as a carpenter ending his working years in the Maintenance Department at Hampshire County Council in Winchester. He stopped work because of ill health in approximately 2015.

Tony developed paralysis on the left hand side of his body in November 2025 and after a trip to A and E, was told he had a glioblastoma brain tumour. This tumour was inoperable and we were told there was no treatment available to him because he was so frail. He was soon in a wheelchair and we moved in with our son. Mark, and his family for the next four months.

Tony was looked after by all his family on home palliative care where he very quickly deteriorated and became bedridden. He was transferred to Mountbatten Hospice on the morning of Friday 10 April and passed away there at 11.30 pm that evening.

We were honoured and blessed to have enjoyed Tony’s friendship and company both at home and on holiday for over twenty years. He was an example to many insofar as being a loyal and loving husband, father and grandfather were concerned. The world of golf has lost one of its finest as have we. Tony …. You will be sorely missed. Have no fear; we will always be here for Jill.
