In loving memory of Sandra Stranger who sadly passed away on 4th April 2026
Sandra Joan Stranger (1948 – 2026)
Born in the heart of Somerset on November 29th, 1948, Sandra Joan Stranger lived a life rooted in family, hard work, and the simple beauty of nature. To those who knew her best, Sandra was a woman of tradition, kindness, and an iron-willed spirit that stayed with her until the very end.
Sandra’s journey took her from the busy floors of the Clarks shoe factory in her youth to the demanding role of Hotel Manager at the Langport Arms. However, her true "work of love" was always found among flowers. As a trained florist, she had a gift for bringing beauty into the world, a passion that spilled over into her own cherished garden and her long, peaceful walks.
Beyond her career, Sandra’s world revolved around her husband, Richard, and her two sons, Gary and Thomas. But perhaps her favorite role of all was being "Nana" to Bethany, Martha, and Samuel. She adored her grandchildren, famously spending time (and money!) ensuring they felt loved and spoiled. A quintessential Somerset lady, she was happiest browsing the aisles of Marks & Spencer or enjoying a quiet moment in their cafe.
While the last seven years brought a monumental challenge following a major stroke, Sandra remained a fighter. Though the illness changed her life and her personality, her family stood by her through every battle. We choose now to remember the Sandra who was polite, impeccably dressed, "stuck in her ways" in the most endearing way, and above all, deeply devoted to those she loved.

I first met Sandra Dee in St Mary’s park when they had their inspector Morse car. I think I must have been about 4 years old . I used to be fascinated by that thing!
Sandra was always very thoughtful and kind, and was a pleasure to work with for many years.
I have many fond memories of what used to go on at the Langport Arms. The weddings, Christmas Party nights, masons, and every Sunday afternoon. How we laughed and swore!!
Sandra will always be part of that place. She will never be forgotten, and I’m honoured to have called her my friend.
Fly free Sandra Dee 🪽💕xx

Sandra was a lovely lady. Her heart was always there for her loved ones.
When I think back to my time at the Arms Sandra is always there.
She did the flowers for me wedding.
Even after my time at the Arms she would meet me on my lunch break in street.
She loved her grandchildren and always spoke of them fondly.
Even not a can see her laughing at Rich calling him daft and he would say in a high pitched voice 'my names sandra'
I tried to find a photo of her but I remember she never liked having her photo taken. So the lovely photos on her is great to see and I recognise the ones from the Arms. Rest in peace and thank you for the times we had. X

I often asked myself, “when did Sandra come into my life?”

I don’t have that answer!

She just appeared!

Instead, I am filled with the humour that she embodied and the sheer determination to make fun!

She was always the most dedicated of humans, looking after her flock and teaching me along the way to do the same.

Sandra for me was like the Auntie that was always there when things went wrong, she just solved it and manifested when you needed her like the fairy vodka mother of the arms!

She would appear and make your life fun when it felt low.

For all the times she sat with me whilst I locked up, for all the times she stood by me and protected me.

For the time she sat in my cottage when I went though that break up, P.S glad you found your phone! 😘

For the times, the oh so many times we belly laughed, struggled through, relied on each other, leaned on each other and depended on each other. The unspoken language we had, that we never lost.

I will miss you my darling.

Sleep perchance to dream, but make sure you don’t wake up room 7 again 🤣🥲 (inside joke).
