Pauline Brenda Shilson (18 Sep 1937 - 23 Mar 2026)

In loving memory of Pauline Brenda Shilson who sadly passed away on 23rd March 2026
Mum was born to William and Daisy Shilson on the 18th September 1937. Her siblings Gwen, John and Bill (Buster)
childhoods were spent in the Kentish Town of Dover all attending Barton Road school. In 1954 she married Desmond Hammond with Paul their eldest son born in 1955, Gary their second son came along in 1960.
Mum worked locally in various part time jobs. In 1974 Des decided that emigration to South Africa was the way forward for the family, he left with mum and Gary due follow after a few months.
In the intervening time mum meet Patrick on a works weekend to Oostende, Belgium with friends from Haffenden’s rubber factory in Sandwich.
The move to SA did not happen and dad returned in late 1975. Mum and dad separated in 1976 and divorced in 1978.
Mum moved to Belgium in 1976.
She lived there with Patrick and they married 1980.
She was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2010 and thus began the slow progress of seeing someone disappear. Patrick became her carer but in 2021 Patrick passed away having suffered a severe stroke. Mum returned to the UK and has lived since 2021 in a care home in Margate. St Peter’s, staff have provided her care needs until
March 2021 when she was admitted to the QEQM hospital where sadly she passed on the 23/03/2026 after a short illness.
