A tribute to my Sister
She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, and an auntie,
but more than anything, Donna was the heart of so many lives.
She was strong, truly strong.
She faced everything life put in front of her with courage, and she battled with a strength that inspired everyone around her.
Even in the hardest moments, she showed us what resilience, strength, sheer stuborness, and determination really looks like. I think we all knew that once Donna had made her mind up about something… there was absolutely no changing it 🤣
Donna loved her family deeply.
She would do anything for anyone
always giving, always caring,
and never asking for anything in return.
To her husband, Samuel, she was a partner and a best friend, and he was her world.
To our parents, Sue and Kev, she was a much-loved daughter.
To me, her brother, she was always there, supportive, and full of love - most the time anyway 🤣
To her niece and nephews, Joshua, Amelia, and Jack, she was full of fun, warmth, and kindness.
“Auntie Don Don” was what she was fondly known as — a name that stuck from when Joshua, couldn’t quite say Donna 🤣 and to be honest, it suited her far better than anything else ever could
In the moments she treasured most,
Donna found joy in the things that brought everyone together
* a good film or a box set, and then telling everyone the ending before they’d had chance to watch it! 🤣
* laughing and making silly videos and photos with Joshua, Amelia, and Jack, and as Amelia says, always making her into a silly cartoon! 🤣
or just simply enjoying time with her family,
sharing meals and memories at Mum and Dads, and of course, cuddles with my dogs Bear and Tilly, who she loved so much - I think sometimes she was actually more pleased to see them than me 🤣
Those were the moments she loved,
full of laughter, closeness, and the people (and dogs) who meant everything to her.
Her life was far too short, but the love she gave is something that will never fade.
It lives on in us, in the way we care for one another, in family and friends, in the memories we hold close, and in the strength and courage she showed us every single day.
Donna may no longer be with us in the way we wish, but she will always be with us, in our hearts,
in our stories and memories, and in the love that she leaves behind.
Love you x
